It is okay to spread your hate. However, don't do it and quote the Bible at the same time.
Honestly, can you think of a more effective way to spread hate than do it under the banner of religion? Happens all the time.
BTW, Rev...
"Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Doesn't seem like wealth redistribution there."
Uhm, that's precisely what it is. Be patient and you'll get yours. Yeah, he was political. I won't go into the 10% thing.
The entire Sermon on the Mount was political. Chasing moneychangers around with a whip seems a little political. Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan, I mean, could there be a more sublime statement with greater political overtones? The Good Samaritan crosses the divide between culture, race and creed. It talks about crime, racial discrimination, hatred, bigotry, and exploitation. It even indicts religious leaders who are unwilling to do anything about these problems.
Sure, the fundamental nature of Jesus' teaching were religious, without question, but there are, and were at the time, many political corollaries. Even one of your own examples (
Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's) was all kinds of political, unquestionably. He was talking about worshiping Caesar as a god, which is what all good Romans did, and is what Christians should not. It was civil disobedience at its finest. Many that refused to worship Caesar paid with their lives. Yet the pressure and agitation they wielded on Roman culture did much to improve the plight of women and slaves, protect defenseless children, abolish the gladiatoria games, and provide humane treatment for prisoners and the poor, and on and on.
Yes, absolutely, Jesus was political. He just didn't run for office, even hid when they wanted him to be king, but he didn't shy away from the politic. He even had a cabinet. Judas was his Chief of Staff.
