    Thank you to everyone

I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. My father passed away peacefully at 4:45am this morning. I am so thankful that I was able to be with him and comforted in the knowledge that he is at peace at last. Thank you again.

    A fond farewell

Sand Creek is a little farm town. Always has been and always will be I think. It does have a post office and a phone company office and a very busy railroad track running through it. It's a nice place to live, but nothing much to "visit". lol

    A fond farewell

I thought I should clarify that while the truck owner has allowed hubby to go out solo, it is only for a short time and he wants a team in the truck. He prefers a "same household" team. The truck is a 2008 Toyota Hino with a very nice 96" sleeper. If anyone would like any more...

    A fond farewell

I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, thoughts and prayers. They are all greatly appreciated. The decision was difficult, but we feel it is the best one for us right now. My father has terminal cancer and being here with him is most important. We will be ok and I'm sure things will...

    A fond farewell

After much discussion and decision making, my husband and I have decided to leave the expediting business. My father only has a short time left on this earth so I have been staying home to spend time with him and hubby has been out solo. The past month has been a very difficult one with...

    November Location

Thank you so much to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. The past week has been difficult and I'm sure the days ahead will be too. I truly appreciate everyone's care and concern. I didn't mean to "hijack" the thread, so please continue on with your November locations. :)

    November Location

I'm at home. Hubby is out on the road solo for now. My father has been put in a skilled nursing facility with cancer and is very sick so I'm trying to take care of things here. Hopefully I'll get to go back out with hubby after Thanksgiving but it all depends on what happens with Dad. :(

Yesteryear, we have found that moving west towards Lansing/Grand Rapids area is a more productive move when Detroit area is full of trucks, instead of moving south into Ohio. Or even moving to Ft. Wayne. (Just for future reference. :D )

    Slowing down?

Last week was good for us, over 3,000 miles, but that was just in 2 loads. One 1,700+ mile load down to Laredo and one 1,400 mile load back out. The week before was decent also. Oct. was a fairly good month for us. Now we are home for a few days and have to get the truck worked on AGAIN...

dumb things dock workers and guards have said and asked

We picked up a load at midnight this past Thurs at a place in Laredo. When we pulled up to the gate, the guy asked if we were picking up or delivering. Hubby told him and the guy said ok, just drive back there (pointing towards the back of the building). Hubby asked, "Any place in...

We are in Walcott, IA again after delivering in Iowa City this morning. I'm looking forward to going home this weekend for a few days. First to enjoy Halloween with my granddaughters and second to get new glasses so I can see clearly again. Driving 1/2 blind is getting old. :D
