What works really good to contain a mess in the microwave is to use those paper coffee filters and place them over what you are cooking. It keeps the splatter down to a minimum. And for entertainment, put a camera flash bulb in the micro and watch the different colors!!!

One hint is---look at the expiration date ---fresh eggs are the hardest to peel. Try finding the ones that are just about to expire.

I'm not sure it does any good but I put salt in the water add eggs cook about 10 min or more depending on how many eggs .
When done pour out hot water run cold water over them crack each one and leave in cold water in pan. pick one up and peel if you can under running water.
Most of the time it works pretty good. Must admit still have problems once in a while. With those I take a knife cut in half use a spoon and run around the edge with spoon and scoop out the whole half of the egg.
Hope this helps

Like Ritasroy, I always salt the water. I put a pinhole in the large end of each egg, which pops the airbubble inside the shell. Also, you want to put the eggs in the water before you start heating it. If you have a shell that doesn't loosen up when you first start to peel it you can roll the egg between the counter and the palm of your hand. Then try peeling it again. It should be easier.

True, don't use fresh eggs. Use eggs that are at least several days old.

The best way to boil eggs is to put the eggs into the pan, add enough cold water to cover by about an inch, then put the pan on to boil. Once the water comes to a full boil, put a lid on the pan and remove the pan from the burner. Let the eggs "cook" in the water for 12 to 14 min, then drain the water and fill the pan again with cold water. I drain and refill the pan with cold water about every 5 min or so until the eggs are cooled. This will prevent "over cooking" the eggs and you won't end up with "green" yolks. :)

This will only make sense if you have read the previous four pages of posts :)

--Along with pancakes and french toast, waffles are super excellent from the freezer. Mush also freezes well. With pancakes I like to microwave them, and if they're dry, but the butter on them and then micro 'em.
--Reheating noodles and stuff, I have always found a half wet paper towel 'steams' them which makes overly dry noodles edible. I was raised on micro'd food, and we NEVER put something in it without a paper towel or lid on it. My favorite way for microwaving oatmeal, is to put a paper plate over and one under the bowl. It tends to boil over 'cuz I fill the bowl with too much, but I'm not gonna do it twice.
--Rubbing lemon on your hands, or rubbing a piece of stainless steel WILL remove onion smell from your hands. Also burning a candle, even lighting a couple matches, will "eat" the stuff in the air that makes you cry. If you keep cutting onions incorrectly, that is ;)
--You can make your own frozen dinner (breakfast) in a container with: scrambled eggs, pancakes/french toast, and cooked sausage links/patties. Bacon sometimes becomes a chewy dog treat. Put it all in one container and freeze then nuke.
--Protective carpet tape: our top bunk has a bare aluminum pan to hold a mattress. We store stuff up there instead, but were getting aluminum 'dust' on everything as it rubbed going down the road- it's impossible to get rid of. We covered the whole pan with the carpet runner plastic. It stays put, is holding up well, and peels right off with no sticky mess.
--Carpet: we do not have a pet, but broke a hand vac vacuuming our own fur. We upgraded to a house vac and it works fine. We suspect even with hard surface flooring, we will have 'tumbleweeds'.
--Wikipedia has given me more than I ever wanted to know about any subject I've ever searched.
--Ohio only requires one tail light, one brake light, but both turn signals.
--Sylvania performance (silverstar) headlights are warranteed for one year from mfgr. Auto parts stores will just swap you a new one w/ receipt.

So...I think this was a pretty good place to start my first post in almost a year. Does it sound like I've been saving up for a while? :)

:)

Jansie, have you had problems with Silverstars? Have you exchanged a burned out bulb under warranty? What auto parts store? What type of vehicle are you running these bulbs in?

About 4 years ago I replaced the stock low beams on my van with Silverstar 9006. The illumination was great but they only lasted a few months. I tried to return the first burned out bulb to Checker Auto with the receipt and was told to go through Sylvania.

Bought another 2 pack, (silly me) thinking I had just gotten a bad bulb. The other light failed a few weeks later. In all I got about six months service from 4 bulbs. Called Sylvania somewhere in Canada and got the run around.

I have noticed that the Silverstar packaging has changed since I purchased mine. Is the product new and improved?

Welcome back and I hope I didn't scare you off with all of these questions. Hope I don't have to wait a year for your reply!

Hi

Mouthwash works well at eliminating foot odor either spray some on your feet or apply with cotton balls.
Hair conditioner is better to shave with than shaving cream {softens the hair which eliminates razor burn and moisturizes skin}
Place a fresh dryer sheet in your back pocket to stop static electric shock and eliminate frizzy hair.
To keep dirt and grease from getting under your finger nails rake them across a bar of soap before starting a dirty job.

That's egg-actly what i would do! lol. get it?
That was an eggscruciatingly lame pun :D

Pilot's 'Challenge' mag almost, if not every month, has a coupon for a free fax - April issue is pg 59.
This one is from Mr Snappy: the round locks we use are known for collecting water inside, which leads to rust. A tennis ball with a slit cut into it will cover the lock to protect it.

We have had maybe 3 go out in 8 months, and have had no problem w/warranty. We go to O'Reilly and Advanced. Both have been helpful with receipt. Honestly, most places should honor the manufacturer's warranty, but depending who you get behind the counter...
I think they have improved since the early models, but they do burn hotter. (and we run our headlights often during the day) Also, since we always carry extra, it's not a big deal to change. We once were parked next to a new Volvo and his lights didn't even look like they were on when compared to ours. So the brighter, clearer light and wider field of vision is worth changing. We're running them in a class 8.

We bought the Silverstars and loved them. 3 weeks after we installed them, they both failed at the same time. It was 10 degrees and wind howling outside.
We didn't think about them having a warranty, so after an extreme amount of cussing from my frozen husband, they were tossed.
We might try them again if they are warrantied for a year.

Still a very high failure rate! The light beam produced from these bulbs is great. But for me it is not worth the hassle of frequent changing, store returns and driving with one eye.

I thought everyone knew this was a site for expediting and not for bashing the new prez or for promoting the right to bear arms, any arms, for anyone.
Let me take it upon myself to let everyone know this.

I agree with Moot. That's an incredibly high failure rate. 2 years and still on the original bulbs in my truck.

(Do I get Moot points?)

Oh, and I think they burn out that often because Obama's a flaming socialist.

After reading about freezing the french toast, I thought I'd add this.
When I get home I cut/ dice my onions, red and green peppers place then in the freezer so they are ready then I need them..

Here's another cleaning one. When cleaning a vertical surface, start at the bottom and work your way up. You won't end up with streaks from the cleaning product running down over the dirty surface. ;)
