What the schools are doing is raising my taxes so they can bring technology into the schools. Granted, they need to stay current in computer technology to advance in the business world, but with the computer comes the obsolesence of pencil and paper math, slide rule math and hand held calculator math. I think this all leads to ADD (no pun intended) and the need to sedate the kids on ridelin. Why is it that a child can maintain his attention for uninterrupted hours on the internet, but has Attention Deficit Disorder when in a school setting?
Yesterday I went to lunch. My total was $6.77. I gave the girl $12. The register showed $0.23 change. She looked totally lost. She stood there for many seconds looking into the drawer. She turned to a young guy, possibly an assistant manager. She explained the problem and he got out his Blackberry and started punching away. I said the change is $5.23. I told her she probably put $7 in not $12. I told her $12 minus $7 is $5 so I get that plus the 23 cents the machine says. Then I told them they should go back and sue their school since anyone should be able to do that in their head in 3 seconds if the school did their job properly. It's no wonder we have so many who'll fall for all the garbage the media spews when they are no better educated than that.
