Mdbtyhtr, in responce to what you wrote if found this in my "gun quotes" file, not sure who wrote, but it sayes it like it is:
Whoever wrote it is stating how it should be, but isn't - our rights and liberties are affected by the acts of the lawbreakers at every turn. One obvious example is the requirement for random drug screens - sobriety checkpoints on the highways are another: law abiding folks being forced to prove their innocence, without any reasonable cause for suspicion whatsoever.
You have won me over. We do have the right to bear arms as described in the constitution.
I think every man woman and child should be issued a musket immediately. Maybe it should be an ICBM. After all, it has been over two hundred years since it was written.

LOL, yea you miss the "p" and you mess up, in more then one way! But that being said, if we got rid of the worthless laws and enforced the ones that remained that are in place that would do what the people want, then those with mental health issues that would preclude them from owning a weapon would be taken care of under the existing laws. The laws are their, it is our PC liberal politicians that won't enforce them. They continue to enact more laws that simply make criminals of the law abiding.
As for the the author "stating how it should be", he is stating how it is SUPPOSE TO BE!! Laws are in place to be enforced, they aren't so we add more restrictive laws on the law abiding to TRY to rein in the Bad Guys, which we all no doesn't work anyhow, bad guys are always going to get a gun when they want it, no law is going to change that. As someon said above, even with guns totally banned in DC, they still have one of the highest murder rates, how can that be!?!?
As for the other things you pointed out such as sobriety checkpoints, those are also an infringement on your liberties, but the court sayes they are for the better good of the public, so your individual rights get thrumped, BS.....
As I said n another post, it isn't strictly about guns, its about the government eroding our liberties, its about the government clontroling the people instead of the people controling the government. It is about all of us losing our inalienable rights.. the founding fathers understood and were pretty wose and seen what would happen and made it clear in their writings that from time to time the people needed to riseup and take back what they have let be taken from them, that is well documented...The problem is too many people just don't care unless it is in their own interest and the think the Constitution has out grown its usefulness, and some don't even know whats in it.

You know, anything an individual troop would have should be available to me if I want one and can afford it. I won't make glib statements about ICBM's as that's just the sort of attitude Obama and his socialist minions and Sarah Brady and her traitor cronies want people to have regarding the Constitution. I think some estimates were as high as 20M for the final tally ...... consider that one for awhile.
Compared to the occasional whack job out in the society that might get his hands on a gun, or any sort of weapon, the amount of chaos, murder, and mayhem that a joker the likes of Stalin (or Adolph, Pol Pot, Mao ... take your pick) can wreak is ...... nothing .... it's not even in the same universe .....
Fact is, if someone is nuts and bent on harming another, they will find a way to do it ..... guns or no guns .... a knife .... and axe ... a chainsaw .... a sledgehammer ..... where does it end ?

And before you go down the "let-the-mental-health-professionals-determine-it" road, the facts are psychiatry and psychology neither one are real sciences - they are both largely only political tools.
If you examine their actual literature, or even talk to a few, I think you will find that to a tee they will tell you that 1. they cannot accurately predict who will be violent (for one thing they don't want to be responsible for that) and 2. if you examine their records, you will find that they routinely turn loose people - who then go out in society and commit utterly senseless acts of violence against their fellow citizens (..... which proves point no. 1 by actual statistics) ... nope ... those morons haven't got a clue ..... most of them are nuts themselves ......
Better off to have a fully and well-armed populace - I suspect if that were the case, the amount of destruction any whack job (be it a political leader ... or the guy walking down the street drooling and talking to the "aliens" standing on his head) might commit would be seriously reduced .... and relatively short-lived ......

Not quite so obvious - simply because the right to bear arms is a right ... driving a vehicle on a government road (owned in common) is a privilege subject to certain restrictions (like not endangering your fellow citizens - the other owners - by being under the influence) .... rights and privileges not the same thing ..... not even close ....
The founders undertood that the most fundamental right anyone has is the right to their own life - and the right to their own freedom .... and also understood very,very well indeed, that the thing most likely to deprive one of either, is not one's fellow citizens as individuals ...... but a tyrannical government ..... hence 2A.

WAIT!! i FIGURED IT OUT!! It is already ILLEGAL to have ANY guns in Chicago!! They are BANNED!!! How can this be!?!? Guns are still available in Chicago where they are banned? Bet the people that used these guns have some type of "mental defect!" A Ban on Guns should have taken care of them getting those guns...........hmmmm, wonder if this school is in the area that bobby rush represents!?!?
