Tallcal,
You know I do respect you and like to spar with you over some of these issues but you know I have been busy today at home helping out others and jumping in here to say a few short things here and there to break up my busy day.
While I understand where you are coming from, being one who watched the protest/love movement from my own world as a kid, absorbing things like a sponge; a lot of phrases and hatred but I learned later in life to actually have an open mind, which the people who surrounded me at that early age still have failed to realize is the way life should be.
After reading this and thinking of the times I spent in Washington and Virginia in 90 seeing congress work, I realized that you need to really look at things with an open mind because most of what you are saying is just the repeating of other’s want you to believe.
McCain is betting the farm on the so called Surge, and it's so called success. With the supreme WACK case Joe Lieberman backing him, these two old fools are so out of touch they really resemble Laurel and Hardy more then savy political types. Talk about Koolaid, these guys are drinking electric Koolaid (I'm quite sure tha'ts over your head Leo,it'a Caili thing). But you might like to try some so you can truly be on the same page as your boys.
First off I talked to some soldiers in Iraq tonight, they didn’t tell me where they were at but the one thing that they said is the feel safer than they have in a long long time. They, and I heard this before, said it is because of this surge and what it did for the operation. Amazingly they are workling with the Iraqis who are now doing a lot of the work, not the US. Amazingly they see that the Iraqis want peace and don’t blame the Americans. They also said the same thing – do not bleive the media, they are lying.
Now ask yourself this, why would different soldiers in different areas of the country tell me that things are working?
And with this, this morning I talked to my local Iraqi gas station owner who is selling his station to move his family back to Iraq. He left Iraq before we invaded and he returned there several times with this last trip to secure a home for his family. He won’t be in a green zone by the way. Here is a rational person who is educated and he feels it is time to move back to his homeland.
NOW I do however agree with you about Lieberman and do not ever forget that I don’t like McCain, but I can not bring myself to vote for a Marxist.
We are losing on every front, everyday, and killing civilians by the truck load in Afganhistan. The Taliban are all but running the country again, funded by the record Poppy crops. They own the farmers and the crops, which makes them probably a better financed force then the US Army, with recruitment at record levels. You can read all about it in your local newspaper. Oh,by the way,not to repeat myself yet again,Osama Bin Ladin continues to mock our country, 9/11 and our silly determination to "Win" in Iraq. We alreday know who has won this battle, the very people that lured us into this "war" thus turning Iraq in to a recuriting post for terrorists. Their number one recruiting post in the Islamic world.Good job w.
McCain is running on THIS as his wing and a prayer.
I don’t think you have been reading the paper or listening to the news but since the problems in Pakistan seem to be under control, their military seems to be moving to control things. The crop thing I can’t answer to but I can say on of the problems there as in other parts of the work is that they need to grow things to make money and unless the US people are willing to support the farmers in Afghanistan, they will grow what makes them money.
Since he has not much more the his miltary record from Viet Nam,which obviously has been acknowledged 5 tillion times,he has been a weak politician and has taken handouts from Corpoarte bagmen for ions. Lots of $$$$.He has recently flipped on every flop and will be running on zero crediblity after Osama returns from his oversea's visit with the strength of the remainder of the western world behind him.
I am not a big fan of his but he has been a senator and has done something in his tenure. The problem with you always bringing up big business is something I remember about Pelosi and some sweetheart deals she has made, and the same with other Democrats. Amazing that they have done the same exact thing as McCain, isn’t it?
As for Obama, I think you mean Obama, returning with all this strength, get real my man. It doesn’t matter a bit, he has not the intellect to understand foreign policy and anyone who says he will attack an ally in any war is… well an idiot and can’t be trusted. He has already been looked at as a junior and will not ‘command’ the respect we need when it comes to some of these countries.
Greg, please,we are happy you have dissmissed the rest of the world (they don't matter),as it shows your true and abiding loyalty to the guy you voted for twice, knuckle head boy.But to those a little more savi. and politicly sophisticated,we are not yet a completely isolationist nation. There's still time, as baffoon boy became a world wide joke soon enough for the rest of the world, like some of us Americans,to just get through it.Soon we can forget about bozo the baffoon. He will be re-commited to his wacky texas shrub land home.
McCain has an uphill battle unless he gets real smart real soon. Not likley.
Sorry Tallcal, the point is that the people of France, the demonstrators of Germany and the drunk Italians need our stability. We support NATO, we support the UN and we still support a large number of things through foreign aid. They can criticize us but in reality the scale is tipped in our favor. The joke of the country has been and will always be Carter, not Bush but Carter. Many who don’t buy into the US is evil idea overseas don’t like Carter for some reason and even with that, Clinton was not doing us a lot of good with his hands off approach to world affairs.
What I did find out when talking to people of foreign nationalities was no where like you have mentioned. Some are actually taken back at this attitude of hate the president, many say it is caused by losing the 2000 election while others say that the people who hate someone who was elected shows immaturity. Are you immature over this subject?
What amazes me is that you may travel all over the place but you still haven’t gotten to talk to people on the real issue of what they could not do without the United States.
You really hate the president, right?
You won’t be happy until someone comes in there that you will feel reflects YOU, right?
You want that Black man in the WH to wash your guilt away?
Why feel guilty? You made enough money under Bush, right?
I didn’t see you to an action protest and give all your assets away but again……
Oh and as one English commentator said about Bush, he may not be the best presentation the country has to offer but he is no gore.
