Detroits Cultural Decay

We have all seen the pictures of how the city of Detroit infrastructure and the factories and housing is decaying..here are a few more showing how the cultural symbols of the city have fallen on the same path...in alot of instances, like the pictures of the library, it looks like they just closed the doors and walked away...leaving thousands of books on the shelves...such a waste

on another note, I wonder if there would be a legal price to pay if one was to start removing things from those buildings...some of the Architectural stuff would be nice to add to some remodeling projects....and I have always wanted a dental chair....:D

Take a look at all of the pictures, it really is sad...

Stunning photos - I'll bet the photographers took those under protection of armed guards. It's a shame the average citizen can't tour those ruins - they must be extremely impressive in real life. The sad truth is that Detroit is a microcosm of what the future holds for this entire country if socialists like Barack Hussein Obama and his union cronies have their way.

I've always wanted a piano - but I don't think the stuff is up for grabs.
Which is something I've wondered - when a company [or church] abandons a building, why aren't they required to remove everything, as a private citizen would be?

NOPE no guards, the pictures are old, I think may three years old. A few of them the buildings are gone or gutted.

This has been going on for a while. It isn't anything new and continues because of the warped way that the city and its
people think.

BUT it is a true result of the liberal/democrat mindset and it is what the country seems to be headed for.

Beautiful in a macabre sort of way.

What I wonder is why is a UK paper reporting on this? I'm sure they have similar buildings in their towns of 25% unemployment.

I would like one of the chandeliers from the Vanity Ballroom.

I see, said the blind man. ;)

"As he picked up his hammer and "SAW"!!! :p

Detroit gets worse with each new liberal "rescue plan". Detroit keeps voting in "clone" politicians. SAMEO SAMEO. You cannot keep on doing the same thing day in and day out and expect a different outcome. For things to change you have to change.

Even in the early eighties when I passed through Detroit for my first time while on my way to Dayton, there where many large buildings with only 3 walls (and people were living in them).

I guess you dont have to go to another continent to see the 3rd world after all.

It is VERY sad. I am 60. MOST of this decline happened during a time frame the I can remember. It was not this bad, not any where near as bad when I was a kid. The bulk of this has happened in the past 35-45 years. That is a very fast decline. No valid excuse for either.
