    load 1

What a refreshing thread. A lot of folks happy with their carrier. "who woulda thunk" Nice to see something genuine without alot of fluff and cheerleading bs. I think some carriers (they know who they are) could take a page or two out of John's play book to improve their relations with drivers.

Are youship.com haulers on crack ?

What a total fool for running at those speeds. I hope your own family isn't out there and encounters someone with your thinking. I am assuming this is a BS post. As for $200 dollar loads on UShip, that likely will get a load picked up. Once again, only the fool would think it would actually...

How much should you make per loaded mile

If just looking for a industry average for a leased truck to a carrier, I would probably say 1.20 plus FSC. By average, some run below that and some run above it. If you are at 1.07 per mile, I personally would consider that quite low.

    Thinking of Panther

I am beginning to sound like a broken record. Have this fleet owner supply you with current and past references followed with the financials of how the truck is really doing. Panther supplies those to the fleet owner. If he/she doesn't have them or the references, it quickly becomes "buyer...

Reading the Help Wanted Ads on Expediters

Correct. If you have a third party handling subjective financial transactions, the dimensions change quite a bit verses a fixed cost item like insurance or satellite costs.

Reading the Help Wanted Ads on Expediters

Possibly, but that puts in the carrier involvement which is a cost the carrier now has. Carriers have to pay someone to administrate it. Not sure many would sign on. Also could see some legal problems if a dispute came up.

Reading the Help Wanted Ads on Expediters

Cheri hit the nail on the head. Exposure comes with a cost for any business. If the financial payroll end is administrated to the driver via the carrier, then the truck owner would have to have a appropriate escrow or a reduction in pay to the driver to subsidize that operating expense. I...

Obama Calls for $50 Billion Spending Boost

It will still be a expanded Amtrak. If they can't get that right, why on earth would one want to invest more money in a totally mismanaged adventure that is the same thing? Gee maybe we should pump billions in the postal service to expand the electrical grid.

A chance to build a biz from the drivers perspective

I would agree with the others. I would really learn and understand this specific segment of the transportation industry before making any kind of investment in it. It is not the same as the state wide courier business. EO is a great resource to gain some of that necessary knowledge. Good...
