    expedite freight cost

That is how I would see it. A good percentage of freight is moved in a thrid party manner.

    expedite freight cost

Not on the 30 miles or that small of a portion, however I would expect 59 percent of the money for completing it in its entirely if that is what your operating contract indicates. Some carriers may run that through a in house third party to readjust the necessary contractual obligation to...

    expedite freight cost

That is why I like a company that can readily provide a BOL and why we book some of our own freight. Many companies (they know who they are) are total game players in this regard. It is never what the load is worth, it is what it actually pays.

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

The current climate in expediting is such that money can be made in a variety of ways and places. The assertion that the highest revenue can only be obtained at one carrier is not even close to being factual. That is the point I was making.

    Panther vs FedEx Custom Critical

Glad you are doing well Steve. As I eluded to in another thread, some get pigeon-holed into that myth that a high income can only be achieved at one place. Might have been a valid argument over 10 years ago, but as you and many other found out, that is not the reality any more.

    Satellite communications

Leo is correct. The $35.00 per week is the accurate number.

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

I would say the biggest difference is very low deadhead at Panther and not usually sitting for days waiting on a load unless you choose to. I am referring to straights in this case. I would say the higher paying loads are fairly similar at both places.

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

Probably worth a mention as well is that DOD loads pay another 30 cents a mile in addition to the base rate.

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

I don't know who you are talking to but I can think of several places that you could get over the 200k mark fairly easy with just a dry van and not have to worry about a reefer or any of the other costs. Of course no one will give you a 100 percent iron clad guarantee, but you don't have that...

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

Since you know how we run, you are correct in that my drivers don't need their sleep or personal time wasted with foolish load offers or fielding load offers that they will never run because they sent the load to a competing truck. It must be profitable for the carrier that engages in this...

    insanity finding a good driver

You are correct. That is for a family of four. As for whether it is a good wage, I guess it is somewhat subjective depending on what part of the country you are from. From a fleet owners standpoint, it would be a very questionable investment verses the risk. While I don't run vans, it would...

    This is NOT carrier specific...

I believe that is the case. Ours hasn't changed or dropped like the Feds, but I don't know if a change is coming? Haven't heard anything as of yet.

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

Not very likely. Might consider it if it is with another load on the same truck. That rate wouldn't translate into a exclusive load unless the load originated from Montana or somewhere very remote.

    insanity finding a good driver

22K for the year is the national poverty level wage. Take a couple of weeks off at that $450 per week and you are essentially at that number short of $500 dollars. Put that with minimum qualifications to drive a van and you have a unsustainable situation.

    Ford van electrical/alternator/starter problems

Could be a bad ground but sounds more like a voltage regulator/relay needs replaced. Especially if everything else checks out.

    panther gripe

Makes no sense. If you get your 45 percent advance at the time you pick up the load, you have the money in your hand PRIOR to completing the run. If you are using more than the 45 percent, then you have a bigger problem. No need to complicate the simple.
