Big Truck I work on Hino trucks. I'll answer any questions I know the answers to.

We hired a girl to do all of the warranty and special service paperwork. It takes some experience to navigate the system. Sounds like they just wanted some easy money. I mentioned the fuel filter can be pesky, right? I told someone here about that. Yeeaaah, it takes some practice to get...

    Swing doors vs. Roll-up

A perspective from someone who fixes this stuff: Roll-up doors- On older boxes where the upper clearance lamps have been replaced or spliced a few times and the wiring is loose or unsecured, the wires have an annoying tendency to get caught up in the roll up door mechanisms. Breaks in...

Hmm. Allison or Aisin? There will be a tag on the side of the case. Or can you take a pic of the transmission and post it? You might be in luck (relatively speaking) and have a broken flexplate. It happens if certain steps aren't taken if the trans has ever been out before.

The fuel takes the exact opposite route. Good to hear on the tanks, but still check every elbow, adapter, and banjo bolt you encounter, including the adapters that thread into the filter housing, if they exist. If all of that is clean, replace the scv. I described how earlier in the thread. If...

There is a constant 12v source and a keyed 12v source. If the keyed source is off but the radio is on, the radio is bad. If the keyed source has power but the key is off, the ignition switch may be bad, but I can't condemn anything without looking at a wiring diagram and seeing if there's...

This is almost exclusively a fuel restriction. Drain the tank and remove it. Remove both fittings from the top. Is there rust or chunks in the fittings? Its a narrow passage, stuff hangs up here. The tank is probably rusty. It needs to be very clean. If there is rust, address it or this...

Original radio, or aftermarket? I've seen some of the original ones do some stupid stuff.

It should be the same as yours all the way around. Severe duty pads are available at Napa. Possibly rotors too. Truckpro and the like should have no problem getting these parts either.

    Jump in and say something

While a handful of people at Thumpertalk (a dirt bike forum) rub me the wrong way and are somewhat annoying, I sure got humbled by the level of support I've received. They appear to be determined to fix every flaw on the vehicle. I'm gonna have to reign it in shortly. Otherwise I'm gonna...

    Oil Reconmendation

The HPOP system on these can be sensitive to long term low ambient temps. Had I read your location earlier, I probably wouldn't have asked. If you were driving around Canada constantly, you would need to consider using a 10w-30 (or whatever Ford recommends), but in Georgia you don't. A...

The sensors seem to freeze into place if they haven't been moved in forever. They can be exceptionally difficult to remove without destroying them. Take the whole bracket off that they slide into and start soaking it in penetrating oil. Hopefully it will start loosening up after some light...

    Jump in and say something

This is how my Christmas went. I bought one person something: The single mom at the end of the street sent me a text the other day, asking for me to keep an eye out for a couple of used tires for her backup vehicle (94 Ford Ranger, 285,000 miles) since her primary vehicle is nearing the end of...

    CAT c-11 motor reliablity

They are 11.1 liters. The C12's are 12 liter, C13 is 13 liter, etc. You're correct, they don't have a dpf or scr, and they don't use DEF. They are supposed to have a DOC, I believe. That's not a problem though. That's a pretty sweet truck. A couple of forum members are rebuilding engines...

I said kit, but it's mostly just a relay and some rewiring to segregate ecu inputs. Either you need new rotors or the wheel bearings are loose. You don't have to use the OEM meritor rotors. Edit: When the light comes on, push the sensor all the way in until it hits the rotor. Did it move more...

Yes. Air brake trucks will require removing the brake drum. Auto Trans trucks cannot be driven long with the ABS light on, either. A kit has just been released to keep the torque converter from unlocking with the ABS light on.

If I'm not mistaken, the C-11 can be expected to do about 650,000 before really showing its age.
