I use On The Go Transportation Services, to proccess my IRP, through CA DMV. This year we paid our registration 30 days early to make sure it was done ON TIME. We were told that we should have our NEW cab card before the old one expired. Well our cab card expired on the Sept. 30th, no new card has shown up. Numerous calls to DMV and On the Go, have resulted in no action, all I have learned is that they both have different stories as to whats going on. Yesterday, I was told by the DMV I was still one form short, I provided the form, MCS 150 - for me even though I am leased on to FECC - they took the form by fax - I begged in the cover sheet for someone to call me to verify reciept and let me know what I can do to get my registration, guess what, NO CALL.

At this time I have lost a full months worth of revenue - for no fault of my own.

I dont know what to do. On the Go and DMV all treat me SOOOOOO nice and then I get off the phone only to find out the next day I still have no CAB CARD on the way.

Anyway, Ill be back on the phone in the AM trying to get some kind of answer.

This aint right - after such a terrible year scrapping by on little or no frieght- to lose a months worth of revenue. I dont understand, how people can be so incompetent, and yet keep thier jobs.

Yh'a , C.A can be a big hassle to deal with ,
that's why many C.A based carrier registering their fleets in one of the states that's allow out of state business or resident to register a CMV . (like T.N)
some are doing so , do to the cost of doing business in C.A , and some for the online option .
you can easily get it done in another state , in less then a day , if you choose to .
good luck .

That is one of the FEW things I can say good about Michigan. Our Secretary of State office does a good job. I have seldom had a problem with them and the one time I did it was fixed forth with.

If you are going to continue to register in CA, with the states budget isssues and cutbacks, if i were you, I'd start now for next year.....maybe 6 months in advance and not expect anything until the absolute last date.....

You might want to do as was suggested and register out of state....

Easy,
I'm confused, do you own the truck?

You are contracted with FedEx?

Did you pay with a credit card?

Don't be confused - I own the truck, I paid with a CC I ppay almost all my bills with a CC makes accounting easier.

This mornings update is - DMV - now has all my paperwork - NO thanks to my DMV service provider On the Go Transportation Services, I cant believe thier level of incompetance -

This AM I called the DMV and they claim I am now 17.86 cents short, but if I pay it they will
issue my cab card - WHATEVER - they faxed me a bill and I sent my wife off to pay it while I work on the truck.

The story is when they see the reciept - they will fax me a cab card and mail the original.

Further up date - the wife just called our local DMV doesnt accept "IRP" payments so she has to drive to Fontanna CA which is about 30 min. away.

BTW -

CA and TX both require all commercial truck owners to have a DOT#, reguardless of who's authority you operate under, hence the need for 2 MCS 150, forms, one for me which sais I am registered only and one for FECC, which sais they are responsible for safty etc.

Im sure this non-sense is coming to the other states soon - its basically just a way to get another 150 bucks out of without calling it a TAX.

Hopefully, I can find a lawyer to take this on contigently - I think I can show 10k loss of revenue, which pushs me out of small claims. But right now I have to be really nice untill I get my cab card. Then I'll show some fangs!!!!!

Well, my wife is now crying, the second DMV told her they didnt accept payments either, she called me and I told her NOT to leave. To stay at the counter untill she was arrested or somebody took her her money and issued her a receipt. I then called Sacremento, AGAIN - they told me that it is correct the DMV offices do not typically accept irp payments I would have to mail it in.

I asked the DMV person if she thought it was fair that I would would pay 30 days early, have my paperwork all screwed up, by them and On The Go, be 20 days out of work with a truck payment and house payment due with in a week, and that sehe was telling me i would have to wait again for items to cross in the mail?

She said, no that doesnt sound quite right - and that I should have the manager at the local DMV call her.

I called the wife back - and somebody took pitty on her stnding there and crying - tooke the money and gave her a reciept.

So yet again we have jumped through one more hoop - and I am still at least 2 phone calls away from a registration.

And to think half of U people want government managed healthcare.

When My truck is paid off Im leaving the United States, I've had enough of the government BS.

Certainly hope that all works out. Sounds like a mess. You certainly give pause for thought when you compare your situation to a new government run healthcare system.

Better to get your plates in another state if you can. We do that service for people now. You pay a little more but you don't lose a whole month off either.

I was about to have to jump through hoops to get my cargo van re-registered in California. I had a suspended registration, had to fax over proof of insurance to Sacramento, then wait three days and send over 15 dollars. Then i'd have had to wait another three days, then get a smog check, then pay 300 bucks to register the thing, all aftr paying a late parking ticket. I just picked up a load going to Michigan, borrowed a friends address, and switched my registration over to Michigan. Only took me 15 minutes and only cost me 78 bucks. You can't beat simplicity. I hope you get your ordeal straightened out.

This is unbeleivable,

The wife returns with the reciept, I fax it to Sacremento, call in they have recieved but refuse to accept it. The lady on the phone was rude and condescending. As I sang the blues about being put put of of work for n fualt of my own here response was,

"Everyone who calls in tells me this"

"Thats not something, I would be proud of. . ." was my reply " I promiss you this, I wont call back again, for at least a year if we fix this now"

She was apparently relieved at the prospect of naot having me call back she said she would give the reciept to her manager and that was the best she could do. I thanked her, for her help and consideration, hung up the phone - and Called the Govenors office again.

The Govenors Aide - listened to my woes and transfered me again to the DMV where I was able to talk to the Mysterious IRP, manager "Sam", who told me she had just finnished my paperwork, approved the reciept, and was sending my cab card to my email address, I was sooooo surprised, I sent her boss an email thanking her for taking the time to listen, and for helping me get through the mess.

PS - After I got off the phone, I waited for the email, hours went by no email. I called DMV again, and thier internet server went down, but they expected to have it back up in the afternoon.

I finally have my Cab Card!!!

In CA DMVs defense - Once I got involved it only took 3 business days to resolve this issue.
My DMV service company - made no followup calls to DMV after Sept 25, even though my wife callled them Oct 2, and several times every other day untill I finally got involved on Oct 19. So though the CA DMV did screw things up initially, the real delay was caused by my DMV service firm, who misled us as to what they were doing with our file.
