I just read that the Library of Congress canceled the speaking engagement of Lynddie English due to the number of threats they received.
The LoC's David Moore arranged for English to speak at the LoC but now complains that free speech is dead. No one is preventing English from speaking in public, just at the LoC.
Morris Davis , another LoC employee told the AP that he refused to go to the event and was glad it was canceled, adding this; "I believe a person who has paid her debt to society has the right to move on with her life, and that applies to Ms. England," Davis said in an e-mail Friday. "I hope she finds a job and can support her child. But to be invited to speak at the library that belongs to the Congress of the United States is an honor, and I just don't believe in honoring the dishonorable."
Lynddie English was not a victim and should have served longer than 3 years. For those who don't know, it wasn't the pictures or 'abuse' that mattered but the sexual goings on that was in the forefront for many of us who expected more from a US soldier.
The sad thing is the LoC should be neutral on the political end of things, inviting English and sheehan to speak is not right and people should be aware of the support of the LoC to promote the victim status for some of these people.
