Whether your candidate won or lost just keep this in mind. ITS OVER!!!!!

I stopped coming on here because of all the political BS.

However, even way before the election my best friend and I have been making plans to circumnavigate the world on a sail boat. We have been making small steps and we figure by 2010 we may just be able to pull this off.

If you would like to monitor our progress we have a web site at Home - projectfiji.com

But don't worry I am not getting out of the bus. just yet. Besides on 11/17 I will have completed my first year in expiditing.:)

You are correct, yes it will take at least a year. We are planning on 15-24 months. I have 2 rentals that are paid for so that will be most of our income while at sea. The expenses should be on the low side with no expenses such as house, auto, electric, gas.

I wish it was a retirement and it may well end up being that way but the plans are getting back into the corporate world upon return.

As far as weather most circumnavigators travel near the equator where the weather is the calmest. The further north or south you travel the worse it becomes.

You know, what with pirates and rough seas and salt air and killer whales and demonic jellyfish and everything, you should probably take that "toddler" reference off the Web page. I mean, people call Children's Services when they see a parent smack the butt of a 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum in the grocery store 'cause he can't have a Twizzlers. If someone like that were to stumble across your site, they'd just explode if they couldn't get into your bidness like that.

If your Sailing East to West, ( Atlantic towards the Pacific) will you sail through the Straits of Malacca or go farther South through The Timor Sea onto the Coral Sea?

It ain't over til' it's over and it ain't over in Minnesota. 477 votes separated the Republican incumbent from the Democrat challenger in the U.S. Senate race. This triggered an automatic recount that may not be concluded until mid December. If the results of the recount are not satisfactory to either of the parties involved, it could end up in court.

By Friday the gap had somehow narrowed to 236 votes. Too bad these two sleaze bags can't be eliminated and the senate seat be given to the third place candidate.

You're taking a toddler with you on this adventure? I'd be interested to hear the thought process that would somehow make sense of THAT! Having raised 2 boys I have some toddler experience, and, well, I just can't imagine...

I always have the urge (but not the cojones) to offer the parent a roll of duct tape, myself. ;)

What a better way to teach a child about the real world. She will be exposed to more things then most of you ever had. She will be home schooled for a year or two. What do they really teach them in kindergarten and 1st grade anyway. This girl is very smart she is 2 1/2 at the moment and already knows colors, says her alphabet, and is recognizing some letters.

As far as childrens services go what are they going to do when we are 15,000 miles away and teaching her things that she will NEVER get in schooling.

At this point we have not totaly mapped out our route but leading towards the Coral Sea. Would love to visit some ports along australia.

Our biggest debate has been go south around South Africa or go north through the Red Sea and the Mediteranian. I personally am leaning towards the north.

The futher away from the equator you get the the rougher the seas are.

Hey Flattop, I have fished many places in my life. The Sea of Japan, The North Sea, the Pacific Ocean off of Vancover Island, The Atlantic off the Mid-Atlantic coast, The Atlantic off of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. By far and away the worst place I have ever run a boat was Lake Erie. I am sure you have run there. Everywhere else is easy. Good luck and enjoy your trip. Layoutshooter
