It ain't that big a deal (tho people will and are making it into one), I mean,
really. Context is important.
Zombies run amok in Delaware | The Columbus Dispatch: Yesterday,
"with shredded skin and sunken eyes, zombies rattled fences, moaned loudly and shuffled their way across the Ohio Wesleyan University campus yesterday, all in the name of emergency preparedness." The nation has
Zombie Fever, which is actually good for the economy (
"...the millions of dollars zombie enthusiasts pump into the economy every year, particularly at Halloween.") plus, you know, it's Halloween.
The deeply offensive, deeply I tell you, e-mail went out early Monday (coincidentally, Oct 31, A.K.A.
Halloween) to advertise the Loudoun County GOP presence at a parade that evening. It stated:
"We are going to vanquish the zombies with clear thinking conservative principles and a truckload of Republican candy."
A banner image on top showed zombie versions of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Obama, with the latter image distorted a famous campaign poster, removing chunks of the president's face and showing a leaky hole in his head.
"The Loudoun County Republican Committee yesterday sent an email to its members that represented a light-hearted attempt to inject satire humor into the Halloween holiday," Loudoun County GOP Chairman Mark Sell said in a statement.
"Apparently, some individuals have interpreted an image of Barak Obama that appeared within the email as intending to portray the president as a victim of a violent crime {because they have no measurable sense of humor and can't read a frggin' calendar - <snort>}. Nothing could be further from the truth, and we deeply and sincerely apologize to the president and anyone who viewed the image if that was the impression that was left."
