>>
>>Please forward to everybody you know.
>>Thank you and have a nice day.
>>
>>BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING LEAD FOOTS !.....
>>
>>Illinois will begin using photo radar in freeway work zones in July. One mile
>>per hour over the speed limit and the machine will get you a nice$375.00ticket
>>in the mail. Beginning July 1st, the State of Illinois will begin using the
>>speed cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major freeways. Anyone
>>caught by these devices will be mailed a $375.00 ticket for the FIRST offense.
>>The SECOND offense will cost $1000.00 and comes with a 90-Day
>>suspension. Drivers will also receive demerit points against their license,
>>which allow insurance companies to raise Insurance rates.
>>
>>This is the harshest penalty structure ever set for a governmental unit
>>involving PHOTO speed enforcement. The State already has two camera vans on
>>line issuing tickets 24/7 in work zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH.
>> Photos of both the Driver's face and License plate are taken. Pass this on to
>>everyone you know who might be affected!!!

Dont let all of that get to you,I actually appreciatte the reminder and have sent it to my safety guy as a reminder to him for a reminder to remind the other drivers in our fleet as well as a reminder to be careful through not only Illinois, but others as well.Do the posted speed limit or below through a construction zone, and everything will be cool. You did good, post away, happy poster !!!

Just because it's an old e-mail doesn't mean the information shouldn't have been posted. That's an e-mail that for some reason has recently re-surfaced on the Net and has made people think it's a new thing (more than likely as a means to get people all mad at Obama 'cause he's from Illinois, and, you know, to make think Illinois needs revenue to support Obama, or something :D ).

When you drive through Illinois construction zones, especially the ones in Chicago, they've got signs all over the place saying photo radar is in use. Not that anyone should need a warning like that to drive the speed limit in a construction zone, but apparently some people do.

Then again, especially in Chicago, there are times when you drive the speed limit, you're a impediment to traffic flow and you're likely to get run over. What's up with that?

Not this poster child. Back in 1992, well before I started in expediting, I got three, count 'em, three speeding tickets in one day. In ONE DAY! Within 2 hours, actually. One was near Memphis and I was on a semi-rural side road getting ready to get on the on-ramp, and I wasn't paying a bit of attention to the speed limit. The officer asked me if I knew what it was, and I didn't have a clue. It was 35, and I was going 53. State Cop Ticket #1.

An hour or so later as I came upon Jackson, TN I was still ticked about the ticket and didn't realize the speed limit had dropped from 65 to 55 and I was still going 70. Yay. State Cop Ticket #2.

Less than an hour later I entered the southern edge of Milan, TN where it dropped to 35 MPH, and I didn't, there ya go. City Cop Ticket #3.

I left Memphis, and two hour later I'm looking at more than $500 in speeding tickets, and almost certainly a skyrocketing insurance premium. I made up my mind at that point that it was time to grow up and get with the program. Shortly thereafter I sold my "Precious", my highly polished and still near-pristine candy apple red 1984 Camaro V-8 with the 5-speed manual transmission that I bought new in 1984, and bought a used Dodge Soccer Mommy Caravan.

Haven't had a ticket since. :)

Remember if the speed cameras dont get you the Red light Photo enforcement will. After all someone needs to pay for all the coruption that has taken place there.

If you have the time and money fight this stuff in court. Demand to have your accuser in court to testify. You have that right in any court proceeding. They must bring that camera into court and it must be able to testify to what is saw. Tell 'em to "Stick it"!!!!

Depends. The US Constitution's statement about having the right to confront your accuser only applies in criminal cases. Many states and localities are changing speeding and red light offenses, at least the ones that are caught on camera, to that of a civil case, in which you don't get to confront your accuser. This avoids the need for pesky "witnesses", "public trial", and "impartial jury" required by the 6th Amendment.

For more than 100 years speeding and running reds lights have been criminal offenses, a crime against the public. Now all of a sudden in many locations it is a civil offense, but a civil offense is not a crime against the public, but one against an individual or a corporation. So that's a little weird when it comes to speeding and red lights.

But even in a criminal case, the camera itself is not the accuser, but is the state, with the camera providing photographic evidence not unlike the readout of a radar gun with the cop who gives you the ticket representing the state wen you confront the state about the charge.

In the case of a photograph, which is nothing more than certified evidence, you have the right to confront anyone and everyone in the chain of certifying that evidence (Melendez-Diaz v. Massachusetts, Supreme Court of the United States, 6/25/2009).

"Justice Antonin Scalia wrote the majority opinion in Melendez-Diaz, a 5-4 case that dealt with a laboratory analysis of drug evidence. The defendant argued that he had a right to question the lab worker who signed a piece of paper that certified the substance he had been carrying was cocaine. The majority agreed that despite the possible hassle involved in confirming each fact at trial, it is essential to the integrity of the court system that questioning of the evidence be allowed."

I also hear with photo radar and red light camera..only a fine is present..no loss of points...since it is a civil case...just one heck of a fine instead!!

So , where is the radar things at 10pm in Chicago, when folks are doing 75-85mph and the posted signs say 55 and its the locals speeding. Anyway,, there are only 45,000 killed in autos each year, and if everyone in a car wrecked lived, the funeral homes would loose money, the cops would be out of work, the sheet metal body shops would close, the doctors would do less and go out of business, and a stupid government worker at the bureau of labor and statistics would be fired for lack of more crap to send us,,,so there,,I have it all figured out now, aren't u happy:rolleyes:

Ah.... cops would have more work, doctors would be busy and there would be more government workers trying to oversee the safety in the auto companies.
