Ragman, I was in your neighborhood last night. I thought I would stop by for a visit but didn't know which house was yours. Are you on New Ragsdale Road or Old Ragsdale Road? Maybe next time.

- boomers wanting to semi-retire and travel
Baby boomers all have good retirements. They should enjoy themselves before they become too sick to do anything.
I've been semi retired for 21 years and enjoying it; I've been retired from semis for the same amount of time; I've been semi retarded most of my life; I still have all my colon;

Well this makes...Cents

A few months ago, I used up my $4 in cash back rewards on my Walmart card towards my purchase. Since I have a zero balance, I just wanted to use it up. I didn't even think that by doing this I would earn more cash back. I received notifications last week that I received a credit. The way it showed up I thought they sent it to my bank account. I thought that was pretty stupid for a small amount, but whatever.

I get home today, digging through my mail I find a letter from Walmart saying they made a credit adjustment, and since I have a zero balance they mailed me a check.

So with the cost of supplies and mailing, and now having to deposit the check and have the bank do their thing. All for what?

A check for a whopping 0.10 Cents

As much of a penny pincher as I am. I might just pitch it in the trash...

Trip to California worked out. Loaded this afternoon, Fresno to Kenner, LA.

You're stealing my future loads! I never had issues getting loaded out of CA. Not as an independent and not working for larger carriers. There are runs out here.

Ask him what the rate is, you might have a change of heart.

I know the rates are low. I used to get around 70 cents per mile out of here with Bolt. Not too bad considering, but that was in 2010. I think a few loads I got 80 cents per mile with Charles. I never got offered under 70 CPM though, but times might have changed. I'm just looking into surviving until my next medical event. Its only a matter of time for me. So, making a bunch of money is not really an issue for me anymore. It costs me 700 a month just in doctor visits and medication expenses these days. And I only see one doc and no specialists which I should not be doing lol. Survival is all I'm interested in.

So when I get out of CA and off the free medical insurance because I am low income, I will cover my monthly medical expenses out of pocket and just be surviving. I can sit here for 10 more years and die or grow old on this couch, or I can get out there and at least fight this stuff and see some new places again. I like the idea of just biting the big one on some dark desert highway in the middle of the night lol. Better than here in the city.

I can pass a med card, but gave up my CDL. I was depressed and cut it loose before I figured out what the problem was. I now know why I was feeling so unwell after the clots and have the issue under control. As long as I keep my mouth shut all my numbers look good for everything and my meds do not affect driving. You can drive on blood thinners.

If you can pass a physical then go for an under cdl straight truck, better money and if the truck has air ride and a nice air ride seat you will be much more comfortable.

I might even go back to truck driving school and get back into the big trucks, but there are no part time gigs in the big trucks.

There might be part time work available in a big truck. In my area Knight transportation was offering two weeks on two weeks off, i think thats what the add said . slip seating though , no assigned truck. And its been a few years since I saw the add.

Having a good customer base, or at least only one broker and a fixed rate can be nice. Other times not so much, like when the customer base has no freight, in the area one needs it.
