So, whatever happened to Preacher Rich ?

I can’t remember if he was a hero or a zero.

You’d need to have bought his book for the real insight.
I believe you have your holy men mixed up. It was the Reverend Hall that wrote the Expediter's Bible.

Psalms:
1 Blessed is the man that driveth a van, not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor sitteth in the seat of the big truck.

2 But his delight is in the way of the van; and in his van doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a van parked by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth the freight in a timely manner; his motor also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Ask him what the rate is, you might have a change of heart.

I know the rates are low. I used to get around 70 cents per mile out of here with Bolt. Not too bad considering, but that was in 2010. I think a few loads I got 80 cents per mile with Charles. I never got offered under 70 CPM though, but times might have changed. I'm just looking into surviving until my next medical event. Its only a matter of time for me. So, making a bunch of money is not really an issue for me anymore. It costs me 700 a month just in doctor visits and medication expenses these days. And I only see one doc and no specialists which I should not be doing lol. Survival is all I'm interested in.
I believe .70 is am pipe dream. Its more like .60 or lower. At least that’s what I’ve heard.
Having a good customer base, or at least only one broker and a fixed rate can be nice. Other times not so much, like when the customer base has no freight, in the area one needs it.

If you can get 1.50 per mile on loads, you can handle one way trips, or taking cheaper loads to get back home. There are still brokers out there where you can get good money for cargo van loads. You just need to know where they are. I have one here operating out of Long Beach. Other carriers usually bid the loads for 1.50 and them sub them out to smaller carriers for a buck or less per mile. I just get the load before the other hands are involved in the mix. Just takes a lot of effort and I really don't want that kind of responsibility anymore.

I heard said person is still driving out there.
