    Another milestone crossed..

Layout, you caught a load to Alaska in your expediting career? Did you get a backhaul? (Maybe a load of ice to Phoenix?)

    T.V Goofs!

That is funny layout. I enjoy stuff like that also. In Hawaii 5-0, they must have had a product deal with Ford. Every police car, and every criminal being chased, or civilian driving by, was always in a Ford. I also noticed, (because I enjoyed that show), that they had the same actor play...

    GPS for Truck

Yes Highway, it has made a few mistakes. The one I remember the best was in Fontana Ca. It kept routing me to an address on a private street. (I was almost convinced I was picking up from a home-based business....). Overall though, it's been very good!

    GPS for Truck

About 6 months ago, I purchased the Garmin 350 which has a truck route setting and so far, it has worked very well. It also has a nice Lithium battery and I can download MP3s in it. The only problem is that they discontinued it, (I think because they wanted to get it off the market so truckers...

We don't like your kind around here.

In all my years of running, I've had two "run-ins" with Walmart. Both were filthy California border stores, one in Santa Ana, the other in Calexico. I do spend a lot of money in Walmart since I shop there often and almost always spend decent money when laying over. (I estimate I spend between...

    The Puppy Project

Not with C.C. anymore, referred to it as C-Link out of habit!

    The Puppy Project

Okay Cheri, This is the last time I weigh in on the puppy project. The other benefit of having a dog is that they can keep an on on the C-Link and respond to dispatch offers while you're driving....:) Here my "doggy daughter" Cajun Gypsy is ready for Christmas. (She's a lot less...

    The Puppy Project

Hey Cheri, I know about dogs in the truck. I have three of them. (two at a time). Guess what, I love it and you will too. They are loyal and great company, don't mind my (bad) singing, are great security, (many times i have seen crackheads and lizards, look at my front seats and move quickly...

How Does it Feel to Buy Fuel?

I know that when I miss the occasional exit, and the next one to get off and back is 4 or 5 miles away, I start calculating the loss. "Hmmm, 9-10 miles per gal, I just lost 4 dollars". Then I start yelling at myself....and my dogs go back to the bunk... I also know that the little side trips I...

    Favorite stretch of road

Yes DCalien, I was on 152 EB out of Gilroy the other day. I was coming down the hill and I saw parking areas and paths down to the reservoir. I slowed up and was able to turn in and it was beautiful. My dogs and I spent the next three hours along the water and climbing hills. It was a...

    Favorite stretch of road

Nothing like the N.J. Turnpike.....those refineries, swamps, (aka burial grounds), and tollbooths, the unique smells and Jersey girls like kristen/Ashley....ahhh... the sweet vision of home, but seriously, there is this really cool stretch of road from Blythe, Ca. to Brawley/Calexico. It's a 2...

    How's your weather?

Well I may not be making much money out here in Northern Cali as a CC solo, (actually I finally had a pretty nice week), but that is tempered by the fact that the dogs and I have managed to get in some great hiking/water fun in this mid 70-80 degree weather. Sunshine, T-shirts, pretty California...

    IdleAire is Struggling

My guess is that the reason IdleAire is struggling is because their service is horrible. In early Nov. I was going to give them a try in Dallas, but they were too busy, (apathetic) to answer a couple of my questions. Later that month I was signed up a a very nice and enthusiastic employee in...

    Team Becoming Solo For Now.

Thanks for the advice, that's what I kind of thought. As a team, we made some bad decisions trying to be team players for FedEx by taking runs out West and they they couldn't get us back. Since I'm from the Northeast and don't mind doing New York and the surrounding area, I'm a little less...

    Team Becoming Solo For Now.

Okay, I'm with FedEx CC and I just lost my co-driver. (We drive for an owner). I will now be solo (65/35) for a couple of months while I work to get an inexperienced driver/team member qualified. Since we starved as a team for the last month, I'm wondering if I'll get my wallet destroyed worse...

Man found dead in back of van

I always err on the side of safety with regards to this topic. Whether I'm idling, or have the Onan GenSet going, I always leave a 1/4 inch crack. It might liet some heat/dollars escape, but Carbon ir a silent and scary thing. Prescat

    First quarter blues!

We went from a 5k mile/9k gross week, after the first of the year, to 1200/1200 in the last 10 days. My co-driver is patient, but I go nuts! I thought part of it was some bad run decisions, but apparently others are sharing my stationary pain! BTW, why am I not a senior...

It's Cold This Weekend! Where Are You?

I am here in frosty Central Oregon. It feels like about 40. (Not too bad for the area). Luckily we made it back across "The Pass" with decent weather.. ("Chains....we don't need no stinkin chains...") We've been running a lot of West Coast lately...not making a ton of money...but staying...

And some of you want truckers with guns?

Getting away from the "moronic CB Rambos" part of this discussion, let's look at the ridiculous assertation Greg makes. First of all, it IS part of the second amendment discussion. Yes, it is unfortunate this incident happened, but look at ALL the trucks, in ALL the truckstops, and on ALL the...

lock your doors and get out you guns

Whitey, to answer your question, I only had a few "dog" issues when I was a solo for a few years. Once I was at some chemical plant in the Midwest, and when I hit the gate, there was a "no dogs" sign. I was early, so I offered to to go lodge them quick, (I have a guide to such places and I...
