Wrap Me Up I'm Scared !!

Is this post because the Fed just got rid of 900 employees today? Not sure what you are saying?

how would you expect this relationship to end

I think only speaking for me, I would be honest with the guy and tell him that he can't remain profitable running as a solo in that particular climate. With that said, I wouldn't "throw him to the wolves". In my case I would put him up for a period of time depending on where I am at. Actually...

    Where is Alborado?

Let me set this straight. The photos were used from another site. The issue was brought to attention from someone other than a mod. Nothing more to say. The results speaks for themselves. When they were had, they disappeared. One should represent themselves as they state in their profile. If...

    Texas Frieght Massacre

Again............no need to complicate the simple. Dump the employee mentality, and you just might find another world out there. Simple as that.

    At&t cell phones

We use ATT/Cingular and like you, switched from Sprint. Biggest problem with Sprint was weak coverage in FL. Sprint worked well on 95 but when you went east to the coast, a lot of dropped calls. Maybe better now, I don't know.

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

If your just looking at a single load, then I would agree. The same objective is there for both.

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

Probably the biggest difference I think your asking is are they the same. No. I can take loads that are directional and a carriers load might go anywhere. Additionally, if I am dealing with just the shipper, the rate is likely higher because it hasn't passed through more hands. Same reason if...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

KEEERFUL THERE BLUZ, ya keep typ'in to em like that, they'll be after ya. Tis been for a few years now that many will need to place household and toy expenses into the mix for the cost of running a truck. An it still don't work too well. Ya gotta be a Madoff for that kinda math to work. Even if...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

One of the best things about EO is observing how people enter, operate, and eventually leave the business. Some are very different, and some are quite the same. But at some point, everyone will leave for a variety of differences. Some are good, and some are just plain tragic. It is amazing what...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

I would say very few would want to sacrifice and sell everything they have to do it the way Phil has. But he does show it can be done that way. But I do think for the vast majority, it isn't a path they likely will follow. I am not a subscriber to a business plan per see for the sake of one...

    leaking injectors

Could be leaking seals but most likely it is a cracked injector tube. They will have to remove the injectors and take out the tubes. You don't mention the mileage so you may want to replace the injectors in that same process. They will also have to do a full flush (several times) on the...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

Actually it has the oppisite effect. Why? Because trucks going to slower areas, outbound much faster back to the more productive areas. See that a little more now where a carrier gets unbalanced. Tons of loads to the south, and then they sit for days. Using this tool effectively, that truck is...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

I think there in lies the difference. Someone else is controlling the opportunities rather than yourself.

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

No problem. There are a lot of ways to do this business as we see right here on EO. Since I don't drive, I only look for the best return and the best ways to capture those opportunities. From that, I benefit as well as the many folks with whom we work with.

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

Ok....now I am somewhere I can answer this. Great comments from both PJJJJJJJ(how many J's again?) and JaminJim. Jim of course has seen how I operate up close and personal, and PJJJJ whom I have talked to and corresponded with. After numerous posts on the subject, I am somewhat surprised that...
