Bio fuel in IL & IN

Ditto on IN. We won't be buying fuel in IL either know that we know it isn't worthy in extreme temps.

Bio fuel in IL & IN

Your correct on the Hampshire. My bad. Thanks for catching that. Then again, Hempshire sounds more purposeful.

Bio fuel in IL & IN

Got a surprise today with a truck freezing up in WI. Got it running with a change of fuel filters and a lot of anti-gel. Come to find out from KW, that they do calls all day long from froze up trucks from IL. Both states, IL and IN, cut their fuel with 10 to 20 percent bio. Bio freezes much...

    Drivers/Owners situation

To be fair, in many instances it was a combination of several things that sank the ship. Drivers consistently taking low FSC loads when fuel was higher. Running trucks with no generator. That would compound the problem for some because of taking profits and using them for a generator, they...

    Who has it tougher?

That is a place where some distrust can start. Same with owners that keep a portion of the FSC. That is rediculous if the driver is paying for the fuel. Yet it still happens. That two headed dragon again

    Who has it tougher?

I am not at EI so it is hard for me to comment on that. I think on the bonuses, they should be done 60/40 or 40/60 depending on how they are paid. Since we are at Panther, their version of a bonus is a higher rate per mile for additional trucks. My drivers make 60 percent on everything...

    Drivers/Owners situation

If it is a isolated situation, then I would move the truck whether I made anything or not. If on the other hand this was a reoccurring theme, then I think both the driver and the owner would be in that soup line eventually.

    Who has it tougher?

It is a team effort. Based on the occasional post, some feel the other way. They are more focused on whether they are getting ripped off and whatever else. Sadly, some bad apples (both owners and drivers) fell out of the basket and created that type of environment. Greed or a self serving...

    Drivers/Owners situation

PJJJ Your described scenerio is exactly what tanked many fleet owners when fuel spiked. Companies that had low FSC's were killing some of these owners. Rather than taking a profitable load for both, the drivers/team would take anything as their pay would remain the same. In those situations...

    Reality Check # ?

Never say never, but if I was to haul something at .90 CPM on a straight, that exclusivity would go out the window. One could easily find their own loads if that became anywhere close to a regularity. The only time I could see that as a option is if it is the only thing taking you home, or you...

    Drivers/Owners situation

One always has to look out more than one run out for profitability. On the other side of that, I personally have never ask to have a driver make a run in which I made money, and they didn't. Not how it works. It is a team effort. No other way to look at it. As for that specific run, it...

    Who has it tougher?

While reading another post about fleet owners vs drivers it got me thinking. Who has it tougher? My personal observation since we have been on both sides of the coin several times, is that they are essentially the same. There are a hundred scenarios one could throw out there that would tip...

    Flat bed Straight Trucks

See a lot of hotshot flatbeds of various sizes along the coast. Some loads pay well, and some are losers. Most of it has to do with the oil business. Anywhere along I10 from AL to NM you are bound see a few of them.

    Reality Check # ?

I find it interesting that they would send you a message of reduced rates from 1.20 to 1.05 and then follow that with a load offer of .90 per mile. You indicated that it was a NLM load, but I am quessing maybe a van load? Either way, it really is a LTL load. Either way, it can make sense to...

    Reality Check # ?

OVM, That was my point. I look at ALL of the costs to operate, rather than the cost to operate a short period of time. That only has a value if you are soon to exit or trying to plug a hole in the dike.

    Reality Check # ?

May be true. I was looking out farther than a span of a couple of months. In fact, I don't even look at anything by the week. I look at just information by the quarter. I am lucky. The wife looks at the weekly stuff for payroll. BTW....thanks LM. It had to be said:D
