A fond fare well to Tri-State

I'm not with E1, but the difference for me would be that rate. If they can't provide a "list" then there is your answer. They have no intention of paying a 1.20 except maybe in a rare instance. Don't really know, but would seem like common sense. The minute you hear "major account" in a...

A fond fare well to Tri-State

As a fleet owner, if they cut their rate as reported several months ago, I would be demanding a higher rate as well or they would have got my walking papers, not the other way around.

Bravo To The Mom and Pop Companies

Be careful what you wish for. It is the "big players" that supply the greatest amount of freight to many of the "mom and pop carriers".

    Looking for trk to drive

I would give it a little time. Seems to currently be more teams available than owners. May want to call the carriers you are interested in and hook up that way. Lot of fleet owners tanked this year.

barry adds 13,000 troops to afghanistan

What I find disurbing with all this is he has been in office 9 months, and they are just now reviewing what is going on there. Should have been spending time on this months ago instead of doing world apology tours.

    Cranky Dispatchers

Wasn't referring to you as "the steering wheel holders" but most know them when they see them. I think you did answer your own question. I would go to Seville and pay them a visit. Well worth the visit in my opinion.

    Cranky Dispatchers

That would be my take. The folks in Elite is a smaller pool of people with little rotation so they are known more on a first name basis. At least that is our experience. As for trouble with dispatchers, I can't say we really have any issues. They all seem pretty friendly.

    Cranky Dispatchers

Just speaking for myself, I wouldn't force someone to take something. But if there is a frequency in which they "don't wanna" on profitable loads, they are not likely a good fit for me. There are too many good teams in search of a good fleet owner for one to settle for a part time steering...

    Cranky Dispatchers

I think sometimes the employee mentality gets in the way of the business one. I also think some look at Panther as "just a expediting company" which they really aren't. They are more of a logistics company. Why does this matter? It matters in that many think they are only dealing with the pool...

Is your company really smart? Are you?

I agree, There is a lot that goes into the mix. The source of freight and where they are actually obtaining it is a big one. Many of the small companies are at the mercy of the management companies or large logistic/carriers for their freight. A lot of that shows up to the driver in their...

Is your company really smart? Are you?

The closer one is to the ACTUAL origin of freight is usually the ones controlling the purse strings.

    Needing some advice

At the end of the day, one would be well advised to understand the business side as much as their driving skills. That is what separates the "professionals" from steering wheel holders. No need to complicate the simple.

    Ohio TP...no more cash!!

I know these have changed so I am curious what is the best transponder that covers mostly everything. Also, does this incluse scales or no. One more question, do they charge for every pass by on a scale. I think some of this has changed since we were driving.

GM to shut down Saturn brand

I would have dumped their duplicators like Buick and GMC before I dumped Saturn. Then again, they may be coming soon as well. Not quite a surprise, but again last month, GM and Chrysler dropped 40 plus percent after cash for clunkers. Ford dropped 5 percent. I'm thinking some stayed away...

I can't speak directly to the van rate at 65 cents, but I can on the straights. Just not that intimate on the costs and ownership of the vans. I believe some interpret this thread as bashing, and that isn't my directive. I am trying to figure out if the wheel has been reinvented, and if there...

The QC would be negligible. The difference in rates from a buck a mile to 1.20 to 1.30 a mile or whatever takes that off the table. At 140 month, that thing is paid for just in the rate difference of one load at 700 miles. Not even counting a FSC in that comparison.
