Where Even A Rolling Stone Gathers Moss

Awesome shots of one of my favorite places. [Tied with Flathead Lake - I keep switching them between first & second place, lol.] Thanks for posting them, even the [brrrrr] snowy ones.:)

    i-80 in pa remains free

The same proposal has been rejected not once, but twice, for the same reason. Without altering the proposal, state officials submit it again, have no 'plan B' in case of refusal, and then THEY BORROWED MONEY IN ANTICIPATION OF THE TOLLS!!! Which they plan to repay by raising tolls on the...

    Ideas, anyone?

I called Lodi Metals, and according to the salesperson, the sleeves cost "around $12.00 each" - wondering why the price difference, when New Haven charges thirtysomething each? I'll find out when I get there, I guess, cause Lodi is where I'm goin, next time I go home. :)

    Ideas, anyone?

Or put a load bar next to the skid, slide 2 logistic sleeves on the bar, snap the strap into one, wrap it round the cylinder, snap the other end into the 2nd sleeve, holding the cylinder tight to the load bar. Moot, they're called beam sockets, lol, and they're great, too.

    Satellite communications

True - but how often do emergencies occur? I know that a text msg will often get through when a call won't, so I can text another driver to pass on a msg, if need be, I've done that before.

    Ideas, anyone?

Didn't find any on Lodi's website, but got a phone number, thanks. New Haven is a bit pricey, and Lodi is close to home for me. :)

    Satellite communications

Guido: I understood what you meant, but reread post 21 - d'ya think the loads covered the cost of the QC? Even if they did, I still think it was a marketing idea, and the carriers who use it to send asinine msgs ["Weekends are a great time to get that truck maintenance done" sort of krapola]...

Thanks, Moot. [It's called a logistics sleeve].:)

I'm confused: where does the [Etrack] strap connect?

    Ideas, anyone?

Thanks, Booker - do you know what they're called?

    Satellite communications

I'm not missing the point - when I'm moving, they know where I'm headed, and when I expect to arrive. I contend that satellite tracking is useful in a handful of situations, [DOD & high value loads], but for the most part, it's a service the customer didn't need until some bright [not!]...

    Ideas, anyone?

One thing on my list that I can't find is the sleeves that slide over a load bar, with slots for Etrack straps on each side. Excellent for securing cargo front to back, or a round container between load bars, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere. I tried Googling various terms & places...

    Satellite communications

No, Guido, I don't give them an update every 10 minutes - they don't need that. I let them know where I am, and when I move, where I'm going, including ETA. If they [or the customer] require an update, they call me. It works for all concerned :)

Any Solo ST care to share avg mi a week?

That's another advantage with a smaller carrier: I'm rarely anything other than first out, lol. :)

    Hotels?

EB is spot on: make the van comfortable enough to avoid motels. While you're saving up for the 'big ticket' items [tv, inverter, Espar, whatever], utilise [I know it's misspelled, but the correct key is stuck!] the freebies: park in the shade, or get out of the van & into someplace with AC for...

Any Solo ST care to share avg mi a week?

While it wouldn't be much of a stretch [short people humor, lol], it wouldn't do you much good, either. It's not good luck - it's finding a carrier that finds loads for their trucks, rather than vice versa - meaning a smaller one. I am never pressured to accept a load [well, almost never]...

    Setting goals

I don't set goals, because I'd feel rotten if I failed to make them - and as others have pointed out, it's not entirely within my control. Only goals now are: do good stuff, avoid bad stuff. Works for me.:)

    How Do You Pay/Get Paid?

What you want is just what every owner wants - and the demand is far beyond the supply. Good teams are not something that can be created in response to a demand, [as you've already learned], because living and working together 24/7 in the confinement of a truck requires a commitment to each...

Any Solo ST care to share avg mi a week?

It's rare, but every now & then, the stars line up just right - or I'm just in the right place at the right time, lol. Last week was just shy of 2200 miles. :)
