I was in Haw River yesterday, too - at the Wilco Hess. Delivered in Graham, left this morning with a load to Detroit. [Yay: books at the Detroiter!] :)

    Countdown to MATS

Having missed it last year, I was planning to go for sure - I have Airtabs to put on the truck, and want to find the step for getting into the box without getting very dirty, and enjoy the company in Papa John's lot, [and the food!], and join the morning walk, and be in the picture for Guinness...

Run on my own authority or go with big guys

Do you have a plan for finding loads, while also being the O/O and handling all the paperwork involved?

    multiple companies

You may be able to get your own authority to book & haul freight, but must cover the carrier's DOT/MCC numbers [magnetic blank signs] and have your own insurance as well. Check with the carrier first, each has it's own rules.

    Preventable Or Not

Steve: I know another driver who suffered the same fate, and it just stinks. Good drivers deserve better than to be 'dismissed' like that. Hope you will fight it, and that you find a place that appreciates you.

to do or not to do

Without knowing any more of the story, I'll just say that I'd be wary of an owner whose 'story' changes...and I'd be extremely reluctant to be expected to run team with a stranger, too.

to do or not to do

If you mean 'repercussions', there shouldn't be any from the carrier - your agreement is with the owner. Depending on how long the delay would be, why should you wait for another driver to get cleared?

    diplomatic immunity

Correct me if I'm wrong [like you wouldn't!:p] but didn't Texas once declare itself a sovereign republic, and announce that the rest of the United States could dam well secede from them? [An attitude that many Texans still maintain, I might add.] Reminds me of the water tower that says "Deport...

At least for the next month, it would be great if y'all could add a note about the weather and road conditions, if they're wintry.... I'm in Greenville/Spartanburg, no winter here, lol. :)

I cant respond to posts please help

Dakota is right: most guys wouldn't wear flowered shorts, and the world is a duller place for it. Most guys are also willing to believe anything that a pretty woman [or someone they think is a pretty woman] says, and the world is a much funnier place for that.

Facebook and the "I didn't know that"

I was gonna ask permission to post this, but as it was on facebook, I figure that makes it public, no? Check out the hands, lol :D

    diplomatic immunity

I expect you to answer to all of the members, defending whatever remarks/statements/opinions you post that get questioned or challenged, same as everyone else. [Another straw man argument!] If you can't respond to criticism or questions, in a reasoned voice, you have no business being any kind...

    diplomatic immunity

Au contraire: by posting it, you invite the opinion of whomever chooses to respond, because that's what it's all about. You are free to respond to my comment, or ignore it, but you may not tell me [in so many words] to shut up. Even for a 'limited' moderator, that's a pretty childish response...

AMEN. You write what I think, only better than I do - thank you.

Since you asked, I'll tell you what else you can do: recognize that a 'joke' that was only marginally humorous at first doesn't get any better with repetition. It gets tiresome, in fact. Please stop beating this deceased equine already, it deserves to be buried yesterday, if not sooner.

LOS uses the strawman method a LOT, and I notice - just have better things to do than refute it, most of the time [like watching the dishes air dry] ;) Just certain statements cry out to be argued, and when I'm in the mood, I'll bite. As far as the original premise of this thread, it would be...

Facebook and the "I didn't know that"

Just today, I saw a photo of TeamCaffee [Bob & Linder] with Lawrence and Terry, and it made me literally LOL - great stuff on facebook! :D
