    Thanks TA

If it has a clear dome with a filter inside and a cap on top it's a Davco. If you have a Freightliner, they usually mount the air driers in front of the right front wheel just behind the bumper. Below is a typical Davco.

    Truck Stops

Reading another thread made me think of this. When you folks say a truck stop is dangerous or ugly I am trying to get a handle on just how bad it is. As a fleet guy my truckstop time has been small but I do frequent a few. How would you guys rate (on the ugly scale) the following places, TA in...

    Thanks TA

That's why I put Davco fuel filters on all the trucks I ever bought. They were a he** of a good water separator and made priming and re-starting a run out a LOT easier!

    Canada Back to Canada

Ya, they think that everyone is just going to let them hop into the ECM and set it at 100, good luck. Heck, Penske won't even let their own shops change the speed in their own trucks let alone some MTO doofus.

    Canada Back to Canada

Now if we could just get our cops up here to go after the idiots!! I am amazed at the way the "gentlemen" you describe drive and the equipment they operate. And I only drive from Kitchener to Windsor once a week:eek:.

    allison transmission

First off, make sure you have an RDS, Not saying you don't but sometimes an HS (Highway Series) is sold as an RDS which is a Rugged Duty, more akin to on/off road. Next, go to , http://www.allisontransmission.com/servlet/DownloadFile?Dir=publications/pubs&FileToGet=OM3752EN.pdf Page 61...

    question about mb engine

If it's mounted on a skid in the box and left idling, it will get 20 mpg. Actually pulling the truck down the road, not a chance.

    allison transmission

Make sure you only use an Allison approved synthetic fluid (Transynd from Allison or the Fleetrite from an IH dealer) and change the filters on the transmission at the recommended intervals. If you give it this love it will love you back!!

    best engine

Can't go wrong with a DD but as said above they will slobber a bit, especially if you use cheap oil or don't change it enough. Early DD series 60 has poor cam shaft "diamond" seal problems. Caused a mess up high on the left side of the engine. Best fuel mileage all things being equal and...

    Webasto Heaters

I put them in every truck I've bought in the last 6 years. We had a PM program with them, every year they got a new fuel filter (unfortunately that stupid little expensive one from Webasto is worth it) and after 3 years we would swap the whole unit out and send it in for a rebuild (about 200...

    GM van 5.7l engine question

It can take up to 20 minutes for all the oil to drain back into the pan, it's worse when it's cold. That might have something to do with it. Starting an engine after a service and then checking the oil right away will always result in an overfill, too bad so many places do this. The first M-11...

How long before $4 + fuel

True....but I feel better buying something from the EU, at least they have rules and conditions similar to the US (ie they can't dump stuff in the river or abuse their employees too bad. At least the Mexican stuff might help expediting a bit. It's too bad all I hear from the candidates is they...

How long before $4 + fuel

Today, there are more people employed in the service sector than in the manufacturing sector. Service jobs pay less meaning people have less to spend. So people go to Wally Mart and buy Chinese and 3rd world crap cause it's cheap. Then a factory in Ohio closes because it can't compete with...

    Mid America Truck Show

I'm wondering how big a deal the expedite section of the show is? Is it bigger or smaller than the Expo in Wilmington last year? I go to Louisville almost every year and I have to admit, I don't remember the expedite section. It might have something to do with Bristol speedway being the next...

RE: Someting New On "Is this a reasonable price fo I realize I'm relatively new here so you all can take my opinion for what it's worth. For the last 10 years I have been a fleet manager, that is companies paid me to spec, buy, maintain, and sell their trucks. All of that at the lowest cost...

Help truck stop caused my truck to blow up

There are many signs something is going wrong before it "blows up". If it got that far the first problem is the driver. Sorry to say there is no excuse for you not to notice something is going on. I have seen engines run without oil and there are lots of bad signs before the end. The only time...

On the cusp of a new year what is your wish???

On a human level, I hope for health for all and a bit less stress in everyone's life. I hope that the general public somehow get motivated to feel some pride in their countries and start to purchase more domestic goods so everyone can benefit from a stronger sovereign economy. I hope everyone...
