Truck Rams CTA Station on the Dan Ryan

If anyone wonders what I mean by "bottom feeders" this trucking company is a good example. When times get tight and shippers demand lower rates these kind of "companies" seem to flourish. Until they go bankrupt because of an accident like this. There is another one that has come out of the...

    What happened to long runs?

April started great for me and then tanked. Last 2 weeks I've been home every night. I love my wife but not this much!

    Liability

Your insurance company can advise you on this, after all their risk is your risk. If you do incorporate, do it all in your husbands name and transfer all your personal assets to your name. It helps. As Greg said, if a lawyer really wants to go after you, they will find a way, all you're trying...

    hi speed blow out

When a steer blows, don't touch the brake, mash the go pedal down get control and then decelerate as best you can. If you hit the brakes right away you transfer the inertia to the front wheels...where the trouble is. That said, boy is it hard to do. I did it on a test track and even after...

    Overall Length

24 foot clear box and "big sleeper" don't go together. With a 112 (short nose) truck the biggest bunk you could have is a 72 inch.

    Insurance

Tell the Canadian broker you are 19,500 GVWR. When they hear under 10,000 lbs they are thinking you are not a CVOR vehicle, from what you've told me in the past your truck most certainly is. Do you have a CVOR number of your own??

    07 Series 60 upgrade

For those of you with a 2007 emissions rated Detroit Diesel Series 60 here is a bit of good news, Beginning July 1st, you can get a FREE software upgrade that will enhance your fuel economy. My sources tell me that the current program actively (dumps extra fuel in) regenerates the DPF too often...

    rust fighter

They work, just not very well. It will not save you from corrosion in your wiring, anywhere there is heat cycling (brakes etc) and it protects one metal on your vehicle better than the other (ie aluminum better than steel). Started seeing them (in Canada) in the late 70's.

Truck Rams CTA Station on the Dan Ryan

Come on Greg, I'm sure the media will wait for all the facts and report what really happened fairly with no bias. The scary thing is when the politicians jump on it and start writing laws based on the public "outrage". Can you see it now, no trucks within metro Chicago between 4 am...

    Federal Trucking Bailout

Challenge to everyone, try to go a week without buying anything that is not made in the USA (we'll exempt fuel for the time being). It's harder than you think!

    Let The Games Begin

Looks cool and well thought out! I hear you on the diesel. I love my Duramax but with the difference in the price of fuel and the diesel adding 10 grand to the price I don't think I'll buy another one. You proved it, you can get good mileage with a gasser.

How Does it Feel to Buy Fuel?

My rant....here goes, We are all to blame because we always want cheaper and more profit, so companies started building things "off shore" in the 3rd world. Those billions of people who were just existing now have jobs and make a bit of money. They now want cars and roads and other "western"...

    Espar?

Should be under $1500 installed. Dunno about the 96 but it will sweat me out of a 70 inch in minus 30 weather.

    M2 Brakes & Bags

HCV should be above the (or one of) rear axle housing. There will be a rod going from the axle housing up to an arm on the valve. If you feel like rolling under the truck, take a flashlight and look in the slits cut in the dust shields on the brakes. You'll be able to get a good idea what...

    M2 Brakes & Bags

Not really. You have a small air leak somewhere on your truck. Suspension systems generally do not use "protected" air, so if something leaks, the bags deflate. As long as you don't pull away without letting the system charge you will be OK. If you want to find the leak, I'd start at the ride...
