Just finished a Thursday, Oakville ON to Atlanta. Drove home empty. My carrier is not good at getting return freight.

I just came off a week that, well I was really glad it was done cause I'm pooped. I ran 4263 total miles between Monday and today (2 loads from Canada,one to Wichita and one to Atlanta). I know that's insane and likely a fluke, but I'm not saying no to U.S. loads. My question is when it is...

The snake oil salesmen really come out this time of year. Almost all of us (diesel) will begin to get better fuel mileage as we transition off of winter blended fuel. The salesman will claim it is his product that did it, and he will be long gone with your money by the time winter rolls around...

For the record, my final advice to him was to follow whatever Dodge recommends.

I generally stay away from synthetics UNTIL you hit 20k. However..... I would do whatever Dodge (not the dealer) recommends. There will be something in your owners manual about service and it should tell you what oils are approved and the change intervals for each. Dodge can get a little funny...

It is not uncommon for a new engine to burn a bit of oil when new especially if it is not being worked hard. I don't know what the factory recommends but I'd save the synthetic until you have at least 20,000 miles on it. Synthetics can slow down the break in process. Also, what "Mobil 1" oil...
