    Transtewart Trucking

What's their rate? Do they run Canada and hazmat? What has your avg run length been?

    freightliner parts

FL/Western Star dealer in Monroe, Mi told me about 3 days before they could get my truck in for a pm. I bought the filters and belts and took off. Not bad... $95 for two sets of oil and fuel filters and a serpentine belt.

    Truckstops

Exactly what I was thinking, Chet. The J in Newport would knock the Pilot down a notch. The thing I don't like about Js is getting something quick to eat. I don't like the looks of their fuel island deli, and their sandwiches are expensive. I'll go to the Pilot for a couple hotdogs if I'm in a...

    Panther II

I have found, and the dispatchers concur, that the boards for Panther are highly unreliable. Dropping in NYC, we were repositioned by the computer to Albany. Anyone with knowledge knows that there's little, if anything, in Albany. We cruised to Hartford and got a load out a day later picking up...

    OOIDA continues to fight HOS

Simon... immigration is a trucking issue. OOIDA addresses issues that affect truckers, and immigrants pose a threat to trucking in no small measure.

    new truck

I don't understand it... please educate me. A truck that weighs 27k+ empty, has a payload of 17k+. That's 4000 over what a normal D-unit would carry. Not mentioning what you spent for this new truck, the milage alone would not warrant getting a truck that would only carry 4k in freight more than...

    Getting Finanaced

There are a few fleet owners or investors who will lease-purchase a vehicle to you for a % of the gross. While some on here frown at the idea of lease-purchasing, it gives the owner an income from a driver who is invested in his equipment, and the driver gets a vehicle when it's paid off. When...

    Lot of Trucks for sale?

True... but the thought of selling it at that particular time. Thought of another reason... seems to be around the point a truck would be paid off... 4-5 years. Then it's time to trade it in and go back into debt.

    Lot of Trucks for sale?

500k seems standard for used trucks... especially the ones turned into class-8 straights. Could it be because of warranties running out? Or just that it's getting close to being ready to replace major components?

    Class 8 Wheelbase

Since I'm an idiot on these matters, I'll just suggest where you can find wheelbases of trucks already built. Check out truckpaper.com. Looking at a number of them, I'd say the front drive axle being at the midpoint of the box is pretty close.

    Lot of Trucks for sale?

It's been going up and down. What I find surprising is the number of driver/team available ads, compared to driver/team wanted.

    Few Questions :)

One other thing to look at in a s/t is living space. Imagine taking a 2000 mi run straight thru that fills the van. How are you going to sleep? If you're planning on running for someone for a time, find someone with a truck. You can negate all the extra costs if you take 40% vs 60% and deal with...

    Kinda peeved at panther2

I don't count anything as a favor. If I do something cause they're in a jamb, I either take it for a higher rate or get a first out. Usually, if they're in a jamb, they make it worth our time. But if it's a 200 mi dh to a 250 mile load, they can't justify it being a jamb, it's just a crap load...

    Few Questions :)

Pointer to making more money... get into a C or D unit instead of a van. I'm not saying that to be a smartarse. You not only get a higher rate, but as a team you'll get TONS more miles.

    pee bottle

I mentioned the Green Party because of political correctness... changing the name of the thread from pee bottle to necessary bottle. Can't help it guys... I'm not against peeing on the tires. When I wake up in the middle of the night, chances are I don't have time to throw clothes and shoes on...

    pee bottle

Don't tell me you never whizzed on the tires in the middle of the night ;) Let me ask you... do you necessary? No, you pee like the rest of us. I would direct those looking for political correctness to the Green Party website :7 At least we're not talking about #2 x(

How would you consider FXCC as a "partner"? They put you out of service if you turn down runs that aren't in your best interest. When you have two seperate businesses going in on a venture, like we do with any company we sign up with, there has to be one goal... profit. The fact that the owner's...

You may want to rethink that. I'm sure sometimes word gets back as to who's naughty or nice.

Regardless of who works for whom. There should be respect all the way around, and there isn't. While we hear how rotten companies are to us, and how dispatch treats us, what about the other side? I've heard too many stories of drivers screaming and swearing at office ppl. I think until everyone...
