    What makes a good week?

Like I said in the post about getting out of MI. Good weeks and bad weeks even out to be good or bad months. If you take everything in stride, and not get worked up over having a good week or not, you'll find out at the end of the month if it's been good or not. You could have 3 so-so weeks, and...

RE: monster miles this week with panther driving a Wow! Those are good numbers, even for a straight truck! I guess this is the feast in "feast and famine" :D

Is there any freight in MI??

If you go by good week/bad week, you'll drive yourself crazy! Best to go by month, because the weeks will offset each other, usually. I recently had a $3700 week followed by a nada week (for various reasons). Overall, my 3 weeks out ended up being good.

    What a week

I hear that! For Detroit being such a busy place, I had a helluva time getting out this week. Can't watch the board constantly, and missed a couple loads that way. Then there are tons of MI to OH or MI to IN runs, but I wanted a good long one to start out. Missed a load going to NV Friday...

FYI CONCERN FOR ALL REGARDING THE IRS

Thanx for the info, Frank. However, it doesn't seem like dismal news, other than the government wasting our money again. We've pumped bux into the IRS, and they're doing less with it. More of a reason IMO to get rid of them.

    Loads out of Florida

Your best bet is to find a company that finds loads for your truck, rather than finding trucks for their loads. IMO, a company where the dispatch will actively look for something that will take you close to home when you need to go. As far as getting out of FL, most O/Os and drivers I talk to...

Good News For 2006 Panther II Drivers (Rumor)

Browns have nothing on their helmets, and the Steelers' logo is on one side. Geez... is that all ya got? ;)

Good News For 2006 Panther II Drivers (Rumor)

I have to agree. I've been told by numerous o/os that the decal is what made them ultimately choose Panther in a close decision. And change the name? What are they thinking? Only reason to change a name would be to change a company with a bad reputation. If they change the logo, I hope it would...

    What is the difference?

Even hotshot has a dual meaning. I've heard it used (and use it) for the expediting companies that get their business from the overflow of other expedite companies.

Canada Expedite companies in Canada - information

I just talked to someone who's signing his trucks on with TKR. He told me they pay $1.10 all dispatched miles (including dh to get back to the zone). What shocked me was that he said they often try to put two loads or more going down south. I'd love it, except for the fact that you get paid...

    What is the difference?

Very simply, expedite freight is whatever the customer is willing to pay an expedite rate to put on an expedite truck. I've heard so many weird things going expedite, it's hard to catagorize. What does a donated organ have to do with new x-boxes or tires or nuclear plant parts or a ball gown...

Is there any freight in MI??

This week is dead... still sitting at home. Detroit is a feast and famine type place... just like the Carolinas. Three weeks ago, tons of freight. Now? Nada.

    What to buy?

Here's a hypothetical. Do you buy a car without testdriving it? Do you buy a house without walking through it? Do you go in to get a job without asking what your responsibilities will be? My guess is no. Then why do ppl buy a truck without ever testing the waters by driving for someone else? EO...

    Help me decide who?

As a solo, I would check out Nations Express. They're based in Raliegh (I believe). I heard they have tons of stuff to and from the Carolinas, so getting home shouldn't be an issue. The smaller companies tend to utilize solos more proficiently than the big 3 or 4. Broompilot has several posts...

    :censoredsign:, :censoredsign:, :censoredsign:.

Dispatch is off about 25% of the time, one way or another. They get their directions from the customer or other drivers. I use mapquest before I start driving. Writing everything down reinforces it. If I have a chance when I'm close to delivery, I pull off and check them again on the puter...

    Kinda peeved at panther2

The way I see it, the driver gave up his load once he sent off a swap request (or safety swapped him). My guess is that the owner has some pull, and called the company demanding he stay on the run. I would be angry too, if that happened to me (cause something very similar did). Take it in...

    lying owners

True, there are two sides to every story. Assuming lap2 is truthful in his post, here's my take. Your agreement, verbal or written, was 57% of the truck's gross. Don't mess with a lawyer, as you'll only lose money. Take him to small claims court. The limit is 15,000 in TN, so all your money is...

    new truck

Not to be a smartarse here, but if you want to drive a long-nose tractor, why not put a trailer with it? I know you've been driving big trucks. And I know you'd make a ton more money with a rig in expediting. Just curious, since you were touting the Argosies a couple of months ago, and their...
