I just rode 10 miles yesterday and it kicked my butt. I need to get in shape, a shape other than round.

    Panther purchased by ABF?

ABF already has an expedite group. We do some of that freight from time to time.

    Panther purchased by ABF?

That's good news, since the current Panther management team is a pretty good recruiter for other carriers.

    The Sprinter Wanna Be's

How do you get that much weight in one? I have a 2500 and when I was on the road, with only a modest amount of stuff in it, I was at 8600 with about 2600 lbs. of freight. I'll agree on the mpg. Keep it at 65 and you can get over 20, but drive at 70 or higher and it's down around 18. Of...

Wow! Stuck in Texas for 3 days, gotta refuse loads down here from now on.

Once you get used to those, it kind of makes sense.

    End of Era..Detroiter Joins Pilot

Using Pilot and full service in the same sentence is quite funny really. Isn't that kind of like jumbo shrimp?

Back home after my little jaunt up to Maine to pick up my Sprinter. I flew up there and hauled a couple loads on the way back home. Now I'm back to driving my desk.

    Looking for a load?

I'd like a round trip for a large straight team. Something from Gaffney, SC to Anchorage and back, no more than 4 skids and 4000 lbs., absolutely must be 100% no touch, and must have enough time built in for site seeing.

Ok, I made it up to Bangor and picked up the Sprinter late Tuesday evening drove down to Portland and got a room, figuring on trying to catch enough freight to pay my fuel home. Got a call from a contact in Maine with a couple skids going to NYC and picked those up last night. I'm now sitting...

A few months ago I left my Sprinter in Bangor when the transmission went out. The dealer there was insisting that it needed to be replaced, but I had another shop look at it and they found a part of the transmission that was bad instead of replacing the whole thing. The shop got the part and I...

Thompson Reuters News: Panther Expedited Services is for sale

Yep. We have a few of those class 8 trucks running and we've been able to snag a couple tractor loads because the skids were stackable. Darn good rates on those loads.

Wow! Stuck in Texas for 3 days, gotta refuse loads down here from now on.

I'm also assuming everyone here is talking about van freight. There is plenty of straight truck freight in and out of TX. We've had no trouble moving straights out of there, but I don't want to send vans anywhere near that state.

Wow! Stuck in Texas for 3 days, gotta refuse loads down here from now on.

Let's also say that the area you're in has plenty of freight opportunities, only that people have a misconception that freight is bad there and everyone bids low, while in reality there are probably as many loads as available units on a given day. I think that's a problem.

Wow! Stuck in Texas for 3 days, gotta refuse loads down here from now on.

There's freight there, just that there is a perception that it's hard to get out, so you have all the lowball bidding. Which brings me to another pet peeve I have. You can have 20 vans sitting in Laredo and at least that much freight moving out of there on a given day, but people bid those...
