    Need A Little Help!

Get on Sylectus and look for available units in the area and start calling around. Load 1 bailed me out a few weeks ago when we had a breakdown. That's what Sylectus is there for.

It also says that underneath the shell, they're not wearing anything, so be careful which Sprinter window you knock on.

safe layover spot near JFK airport

Yep. The Home Depot and the Wal Mart share the same parking lot. There's also an ok shopping mall there and a Best Buy.

safe layover spot near JFK airport

Valley Stream. There's a Wal Mart and a Target over there and you're only about 10-15 minutes from the JFK cargo area, depending on traffic.

    Tri-State Question

We do a lot of brokered freight for them.

    Back soliciting

If the broker posts the load and competitive bidding takes over to the point the broker gets a huge profit margin, is the broker a crook for awarding the load to the lowest bidder? Or should we blame the carriers who bid that low for padding the broker's profit?

You might be an Expediter if you...

Has anyone pulled the car into a coop? Yep, did that one a few months ago when I didn't get a green light on the EZPass that's in the car.

You might be an Expediter if you...

Even if you've been off the road for almost a year and you still find yourself: 1. Going 65 in the middle lane of the interstate in a 70 mph zone...in a car. 2. Wondering why people have to look over their shoulders to back up a car when there are two perfectly good mirrors on the vehicle...

According to Stu, said van will still show up under each company listing it, but the system will see the duplicate VINs and group those listings together somehow so someone doing a truck search will be able to tell they're all the same van.

    LandShark is out of business.....

I did that last year. Just showed up at their office on Long Island. Walked out with a check pretty fast too.

    Back soliciting

Yeah, I can see that being an issue, which is why we don't back solicit if we know up front who the customer was.

    Back soliciting

The reason I threw the question out there is because of the nature of the way a lot of freight is moved these days. A small carrier could be trying to expand their base of freight sources and inadvertently back solicit someone. Sometimes you do a load that someone else got from a 3PL, and the...

    Back soliciting

What I was talking about isn't a case where someone tries to solicit the shipper directly, like Ford, but a scenario where a small carrier is getting those Ford loads from another carrier who is getting them from NLM. If that small carrier then goes and starts doing business with NLM, would you...

    Back soliciting

We've been pretty careful about not doing this, but the longer I've been in this business and learned more about where freight comes from and the number of times a load is brokered at times, it got me to wondering how much of a grey area there is with this topic of back soliciting. When I...

    Truck Driver's IQ

Maybe some of us are in the wrong line of work then. Mine is upwards of that, but you know what a high IQ gets you these days. Absolutely nothing really, unless you want to be in Mensa or something.

Organizing the pot luck cookout @ the Expo

I will make some homemade rolls and I'll have them at our booth. I imagine I'll have to tear down the booth when it's over, so maybe someone can stop by the booth and grab them and then I'll make my way over when I'm done packing up.
