    What a 1st day!

I can't drive with those lumbar supports on either. Our car is incredibly comfortable and I can drive that thing forever without having issues, as long as I take my wallet out of my back pocket.

    Life Changes II

Oh man, I'm sorry. It's good that you got to spend some time with him and that he got to pass surrounded by loved ones. You're in my prayers.

John elliot and the load 1 gang!

Well, this fine company bailed us out last night. I had a Sprinter break down in Memphis with a load on board and they were the only carrier in the area willing to take the freight off our hands and run it into Tulsa. Really did us a favor there.

Week of 4th of July load predictions?

If I was still out in a van and I was sitting in an area with little competition, the last thing I would do is move to an area where there are going to be hundreds of vans all looking for a load as soon as the holiday is over.

The C-Unit is making a come back.

I was really talking about what that does to the rates for those kind of loads. If a load would technically fit on a Sprinter but the customer needs dock high, then it should pay accordingly, but you have a lot of people underbidding those loads at rates no straight can touch and then using...

The C-Unit is making a come back.

I think another factor in the lower rates for some of the freight at the lighter end of the C unit payload is the number of loads going on Sprinters and other non dock high units that shouldn't really be going on those types of vehicles. You see 4000 lb stuff going on vehicles that aren't...

    Strange thing

I saw a car hit a rabbit the other day. The driver got out of his car and poured something out of a bottle onto the dead rabbit, dropped the bottle, and drove off. After a few seconds the rabbit got up and started hopping off, but every few feet it would stop, turn around and face me, and wave...

    June Locations .....

And the TA over near Portsmouth, which is a pretty good area to be sitting, close to Maine and an hour from the north side of Boston.

    Expedite Expo 2012 Hotel Rooms

That would be beyond tacky, and probably bad for recruiting.

    Expedite Expo 2012 Hotel Rooms

I'll be there with a booth this year...and after paying for the booth and printing the stuff to hand out...I'm not sure I'll be in the mood to buy anyone's dinner, except maybe a new recruit.

    Expedite Expo 2012 Hotel Rooms

Plenty of rooms around Cincinnati and it's only 45 minutes away. I'll be staying in my own comfortable bed.

The C-Unit is making a come back.

Pretty much. We only have two vans and I'm not looking to add any more. We're pretty much focusing on straights for the time being, unless van freight starts making a comeback.

The C-Unit is making a come back.

Most of our Ds are team trucks as well. That helps.

Any Colorado fire travel issues ?

I think you should be ok up near Denver at the moment, since it's closer to Colorado Springs right now.

The C-Unit is making a come back.

Carren and I spent last summer on the road in a 16' truck, which later became an 18' truck when I tried to deliver a bridge on top of the 16' box and had to replace it. We kept as busy as we wanted to be all summer with a 6000 lb payload, so those trucks can be money makers if you get the right...

    New any advise is helpful

I'm not knocking Premium, but I think they do mostly automotive and a lot of the auto plants raise a fuss if you go in there with something older. We have a couple trucks that old and haven't had any trouble yet delivering into places, but we don't do as much automotive. I would just call...

Wow! Stuck in Texas for 3 days, again! Am I ever gonna learn.

We do well getting straights out of there. I don't like sending vans there though. I don't think we ever have a straight spend a night in Laredo these days.

    Windshield Mounted Devices

It seems to me that the safest thing to do would be to mount the GPS where you don't have to divert your eyes in order to see it, but what do I know?

    What Would You Do?

Along those lines, I would ask if it's picking up at UPS because of the high probability of those canceling, and then I'd tell them up front that I'm expecting a healthy dry run amount if it does cancel. From the dispatch side of things, if your carrier is getting enough to pay the contractor...
