    XPO Logistics ?

But do you ever insist that your mechanic charge you less than what it costs to do the repair? At some point everyone has a right to make a profit or you might as well just go get a job somewhere.

    XPO Logistics ?

I had a truck sitting in eastern PA yesterday and I had someone offer me $1.40 for a straight truck load and talk like that was a good price because it was getting "off the east coast and back to the freight lanes." I told him no and he replied with, "You don't want to get that truck out of...

Reminder about the new Tanker endorsement.

So if the liquid in these things is not hazardous, does placarding still apply? We've started coming across this recently with freight we're quoting. Load isn't listed as hazmat, but the broker comes back and says it's liquid and asks if the driver has the tanker endorsement.

    12v fridge and micowave

The fridge I bought at Lowe's didn't seem to draw a lot of power. The inverter has a digital readout to tell you what it's putting out and once I unplugged everything but the fridge and it was drawing less than 100 watts. It's a 2000 watt inverter and I never came close to maxing it out even...

Hitting my head against the wall next to my desk. I booked another load for the truck that had the load cancel yesterday...and that load cancelled before he even got out of the truck stop parking lot. Two cancellations back to back. I'm booking good loads for other trucks but this guy is just...

We don't reimburse for tolls, but we bid higher on loads that require use of a toll road, so it still comes out in the wash.

I get obsessive when loads cancel. I feel that there needs to be another load to replace the one that was lost and as long as that vehicle is sitting I have a little grudge about the cancelled load. Sooner or later I need to call it a night.

Still at my desk...going on 13 hours now. Had a load cancel and I'm obsessing trying to get something else on that truck.

    What is a short load?

Just wondering what everyone would consider the cutoff in terms of miles for what you would consider a short load that should pay higher. I quoted a couple 300 mile straight truck loads this morning and was told that "We don't have anywhere near that much money in that." I've always considered...

    12v fridge and micowave

When I was out in a straight last year I picked up a mini fridge with a freezer at Lowe's and just ran it off an inverter. The thing worked great. I always preferred running things off the inverter to using 12v stuff. I used a 12v cooler up between the seats to keep drinks in that I could...

    How qualifications differ

The application thing is a DOT requirement, but if the app spells out that it is an application to sign on as a contractor, everything's good.

    Supposed non force dispatch.

That's cruel. I did something not quite similar once. I had a van in TX and I wasn't winning any bids, so I posted a fake load on Sylectus, just to see what people were bidding. Everyone who bid got an email back saying that the load was already covered, but it gave me a good idea where folks...

    Landstar Agents

We do a lot of work for them, and even as a partner carrier I find that building relationships with certain agents is a must. Each one is almost like a separate customer.

    Supposed non force dispatch.

It's all a numbers game. I see a load a guy is close enough to, I tell him about it. If he wants it, I try to book it. If not, no big deal and I keep looking. Nothing personal. Frankly, I don't want contractors who need their hands held. Tell me why you don't want the load and we'll try...

    Panther Scientistic Logistics??

I don't know, but in a couple years after enough people flock there for the good rates it will be down around $1.50 a mile.
