    Landshark

I would second that. I stopped in their office in NYC when I was there last year to collect on an outstanding invoice in person. They cut me a check right there on the spot and told me a story about their system being messed up or something. While I was there I was hearing them calling...

    Brokers.... what to charge....

The brokers are "charging" whatever the carriers are stupid enough to bid the load at. The internet is the broker's best friend.

    Brokers.... what to charge....

Don't blame the brokers for how much they make. If I had a load I got $4 a mile for and had carriers fighting tooth and nail to run it at $1.70, I don't think I'd turn down that kind of margin either.

    Brokers.... what to charge....

Not humor this time. We do a lot of freight in and out of the NE and sometimes there are darn good rates for straight truck loads, rates that would be good enough to run the load in a TT to get back out and still make a tidy profit.

    Companies that fine drivers

And I wouldn't expect a driver to be unsafe either. We've had cases where the broker didn't want to adjust the protect after excessive detention because "you still have time to make it" and I'll push to have the same transit time that the load was booked at. With my example it's assumed that...

    Companies that fine drivers

I'm not defending the practice and we don't do it ourselves, but if you've dealt with some of the drivers out there you would understand where the desire comes from. A carrier can be docked pay for all manner of reasons, some of which could be the fault of the driver, and most of the time the...

    Brokers.... what to charge....

If you're in the NE, there's no need to run cheap to get out of there. Panther has plenty of freight in that area and you should be able to get top dollar to run it.

    Strange truck

I guess my sense of humor is a little too dry.

    Strange truck

There's a load posted that says a liftgate is needed on both ends. I've seen plenty of trucks with a liftgate on the back of the trailer, but I've never seen one on the other end of the truck. Is this something new?

Could we all agree that under $1 a mile to the carrier for a cargo van load is cheap? A lot of carriers are bidding that low on van loads right now.

    5280...

We have a large straight with a team sitting in Midland, TX. It's the only straight posted within 100 miles of there. I have been getting calls this morning from brokers wanting to book the truck on nice long runs, and they're expecting a discount because the miles are more or the load is...

feet to a mile. One of them, or 2000 of them, same number of feet. Headed away from your house or headed toward your house, same number of feet. Same cost per to operate your truck as well. Why can't some people figure that out?
