    Always something new to learn

In the process of replacing the fridge in the truck, I made a couple interesting discoveries: first, that the shelves in the GE fridge fit exactly into the cabinets of the FL Century, and there are even grooves inside the cabinet walls to support the shelf. (I would think that other FL models...

    Quality of CDs

I've got a new hobby, courtesy of Linder Caffee, (who credits Terry O'Connell with introducing it to her): downloading audiobooks, from Audible.com. While Linder downloads hers to an iPod, I dowload to my computer, then burn them onto CDs. The cost, including the blank CDs, is about the same as...

    Happy Birthday to Linder

Ha! You thought I either forgot, or didn't know, huh? Well, I know that you deserve a wonderful day, even if you don't care to be reminded, and I hope you enjoyed it, and didn't have to call the Fire Dept to put out the candles, lol.;)

    Satellite radio

I'd like to add satellite radio, but no one seems to know exactly which pieces/parts I need to acquire. My Pioneer radio says "Satready", which one clerk said means I just need an antenna, while another said I need the satradio kit for Pioneer. I know I need professional installation, any...

    Minneapolis bridge collapse

At 605 pm this evening, the entire span of I 35 W, which crosses the Mississippi river in Minneapolis, collapsed into the river. No definite reports of deaths and or injuries yet.

    Some long overdue GOOD news!

Researchers have finally managed to come to a conclusion that we wanted to hear: eating dark chocolate lowers blood pressure. Keeping in mind Rich's chocolate & keyboard booboo, I am lowering mine as I type, with Hershey's All Natural Extra Dark Chocolate with cranberries, blueberries, and...

    Whose bright idea was it?

To make the larger, heavier, slower vehicles (trucks) yield the right of way to smaller, lighter, faster 4 wheelers, at rest areas? To mount the tissue holder so low on the bathroom wall that you have to get your forehead on the floor to grab the tissue? To post the legal blood alcohol limit...

    Hollywood

Does anyone know whether the famous Hollywood sign in the hills is still there? I seem to remember reading that it was removed, having proven to be a little too popular with the "famous last jump" crowd, which would explain why I couldn't find it today, driving all over Hollywood...Hey - I...

    If you love something

"If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it will always be yours. If it doesn't come back, it was never yours to begin with. But if it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your phone, takes your money, and doesn't appear to realize you'd set it...

    Music as expression

I am really enjoying the thread on 'best rock & roll song', because music is, as Packmule said, a very important part of us. It's cool to see what we share with people that actually comes as a surprise, lol. So here's another query: what song do you have, or would you want, as the ringtone on...

    Homeland 'Security', eh?

http://www.limanews.com/story.php?IDnum=35773 This is mindboggling: a vehicle runs a red light, crashes into a tanker, causing it to explode, and Homeland Security officials insist that the carrier that owned the tanker is responsible for the cost of the cleanup?! It appears that Homeland...

    By request

Joebob would like to know, ASAP, whether anyone knows of a beach in Brownsville, Tx, with truck parking, but can't get online to ask, as he's enroute. If there's a Margaritaville nearby, he'll find that on his own... Some things never change, lol ;) :P

    Hazmat renewal

Can anyone offer advice on just how long in advance of the expiration date one needs to renew a CDL with Hazmat? In Ohio, if it makes any difference.

    File extensions

Can anyone explain the file extension 'bin' that is causing photos that I send to be unopenable? The photos are taken with my cellphone, then emailed to myself. The 'bin' extension only appears on some, and I don't know why.

    FYI

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/breast-cancer-link-to-diet-rich-in-meat/2006/11/14/1163266550310.html Women who favor the Atkins diet should read this link, so they don't reduce one risk, only to increase another. Which seems to be the way life goes, sigh. :(

    I was SO bored

I wrote some lyrics - for drivers... To the tune of "White Christmas" I'm dreaming of a nice, long run, From coast to coast would be just great... With frieght that's not too large, A hefty fuel surcharge, And nothing at all to make me late... I'm dreaming of some nice, long runs, For...

Will extreme cold affect my laptop?

Last winter, I always brought it inside, & plugged it in while home, but now I just leave it in the van - one less thing to shlep in & out. If the temp drops very low, will that have a negative effect on the electronics?
