OK, so...
I'm based in ARIZONA. AZ is supposedly a wee sleepy for expedited freight. Phoenix is the 6th biggest city in the USA, but we're sleepy. Go figure.
My question is about getting back here sometimes. Suppose I run all up and down the East Coast and Midwest until my azz falls off...
I know it seems a bit out of place for me to say this when I've been here only a little while, but why is everyone so negative towards ATeam? Am I missing some posts of him insulting everyone's mom or something?
I met Phil and Diane last week in person, they are genuinely nice folks...
OK, so what calculations are you guys using (can you break it down so I understand better?) to see what runs you take and are profitable?
e.g.: A run pays $2500 to go 1500 miles, so $1.67 per mile.
What do you then figure into the calculation?
Fuel burn obviously, but then what? Truck...
So, I guess I've narrowed it down to a class 9, F class Expeditor Amphibious Vehicle with 12 wheels and an elevator.
Buuuuuuut,
What's a lift-axle for then? Does it magically transform a Class 7 truck into a "D" Unit? Is its sole purpose to carry more weight?
And do lift-axle trucks operate...
Um, I think I , uh, wait, now, um...
*Head explodes again*
OK, so now that we have that out of the way...
Whats the difference between class 7 or class 8? Seems to overlap a bit with the description of the C / D stuff:confused:
Ok, so I keep seeing the Class D and Class C trucks...but then I click on a listing, it says its a class C when I thought it was a class D, and vice versa.
Can anyone clear up exactly what different factors go into determining what class a straight truck is?
Thanks.
That was a positive post!
Thanks to everyone for not putting a layer of syrup on everthing for us newbies...keep telling it like it is and we become well-informed nooblets.:D
Hey, I just saw a Sterling leased to Landstar this morning at the Triple T in Tucson. Didn't have time to go talk...
I'm considering what you're doing, BUT I have no prior driving experience save my 16' COE boxtruck with a liftgate. (I am a trucker GOD!) I have no interest in being an OTR tractor driver.
I do, however, have a huge chunk of reserve cash to fall back on if things get slow. And I'm...
I just meant it as an example of overhead, trying to come up with ideas of why some of the others aren't making it and literally starving. I think that a $250K truck would not be a great idea for me as a solo o/o:D, at least not now.
I know you've been successful and stayed positive, managed...
ahhhhh, crap.
So, what is the prediction here? Fleets, owners, drivers leaving this profession en masse with a glut of trucks on the market?
I'm not understanding a few things still:
If the price of fuel is high, isn't there a fuel surcharge passed to the driver to cover that, or is it...
Chopped up below quote to add my handle and respond to specific bits. Hope you don't mind.
No need to explain the request to keep your locale under wraps. I'm new, I don't know what certain people need or want, so my pleasure. I kinda jumped the gun, didn't know if you were on a secure...
Cool. Looks like this place is more famous than I thought in lil' ol' Tucson. :) I like the food, and its right around the corner from my house. Oddly enough, nice place.
Profits go to a heck of a lot of the American workers building the cars, managing the plants, building the plants, etc.
I would guess the split is the same as GM or Ford, what with them building a bunch o' parts overseas and in Mexico.
;)
