The Trump Card...

You mean the national guard that had to be called in because the former president tried to whip up his minions so that he could remain in power even though he lost the election?
Remember how Trump requested a National Guard presence at the Capitol for that day but the Nancy and the Capitol Police refused because it might be bad optics?

I almost never cite media reports that rely on unnamed sources. I prefer instead reports in which the sources are known and can be confirmed. Worse are the media outlets that pick up and run with the story, citing "A Washington Post report" for example, while the report itself is based on nothing more than an unnamed and unverifiable source. This is not news. It is not fact. For all we know, it's a made-up story having no basis in fact whatsoever and is being published, not with objective news reporting in mind, but with the intent to sway readers/views toward a particular point of view.

I said I almost never cite such reports, not never. I'm making an exception here because I believe the report to be true. The report is:

New grand jury stated for next stage of Trump investigation

We know, factually from court records, that certain investigations regarding the Trump Organization have been underway. It's logical to expect a grand jury to be convened as part of that process, if sufficient evidence is found to support an indictment. Now that this grand jury development has been reported, and the report is reasonable to believe, it's also reasonable to believe indictments will follow.

The only reason prosecutors convene grand juries is to obtain indictments. According to this source, "the rate of indictment by a grand jury ranges from approximately 95% to approximately 99%." So it seems that the investigation has progressed from gathering evidence to presenting it.

We do not know who or what organization(s) will be indicted, or for what, but it is reasonable to expect indictments to come.

Also be wary of reports in the news that are "a little too on the nose." If it's exactly what people are looking for...

And subpoenas and documents.
"the rate of indictment by a grand jury ranges from approximately 95% to approximately 99%."
The phrase comes from Sol Wachtler, the former chief judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. In 1985 he argued in an interview with the New York Daily News that grand juries should be eliminated from most felony cases:

Wachtler said district attorneys have so much influence on grand juries that “by and large” they could get them to “indict a ham sandwich.”

The “ham sandwich” line was later immortalized when author Tom Wolfe quoted the judge in his novel The Bonfire of the Vanities. Wachtler, who is Jewish, subsequently said ”that he regrets that he didn’t say ‘pastrami’ sandwich.”
but it is reasonable to expect indictments to come.
They've been itching to get Trump, or someone close to him, for five years. You betcha there's gonna be indictments.

But im with you on the rioting, send in the guard and let them take care of the problem, when people are dying because they showed up to riot, maybe they will think twice.
The only person that was killed that day was a Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt.

Fair point

I'm familiar with the quote. Prosecutors definately have an advantage in front of grand juries.

Yep, and then we can finally see, in an objective court, what the facts may or may not be, and how they stand up. It could have happened sooner but Trump has fought and delayed these processes every step of the way. Things are moving faster now because Trump can no longer use the powers and priviliges of the presidency to slow things down.

The National Guard would be there to control the crowd with tear gas and other non lethal means, if need be, that is all.

Where would be that objective court?
I'm waiting for the punchline.

Uhm, no. Nice mind-reading attempt, though.
But you don't have to do any mind reading or jump to any conclusions, we have the actual congressional House Oversight Committee testimony from the actual guy Trump talked with regarding the troops, former Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller. Trump specifically wanted National Guard troops there to protect his supporters, not to protect the Capitol from his supporters. He had no reason to believe the Capitol was in any danger, because as we now know, also from congressional testimony, the Capitol Police and the FBI both failed to inform the White House of known plots to take over the Capitol that day.

It's logical to expect a grand jury to be convened as part of that process, if sufficient evidence is found to support an indictment. Now that this grand jury development has been reported, and the report is reasonable to believe, it's also reasonable to believe indictments will follow.

We do not know who or what organization(s) will be indicted, or for what, but it is reasonable to expect indictments to come.
Confirmation is now made by a named source who is in a position to know and is speaking publicly on the matter. It's made by Trump attorney Ronald Fischetti who confirmed that criminal charges against the Trump Organization are likely to be filed next week.

In other news:
  • Michigan Republican-led investigation rejects Trump's claim that Nov. 3 election was stolen.
  • Donald Trump calls out Wisconsin Republicans for not conducting forensic audit into election.
  • Georgia judge dismisses most of lawsuit that alleged fraudulent absentee ballots in Fulton County. This effectively quashes any chance that an Arizona-type election audit will begin in Georgia.
  • Rudy Giuliani's law license is suspended by a panel of five judges from the State Supreme Court’s appellate division. The panel said he has betrayed his professional oath by peddling “false and misleading” claims about the 2020 election on behalf of his most high-profile client, former President Donald Trump. (Source)
  • "Cobb and DeKalb counties have been paid funds to cover legal costs sustained in connection with Trump’s fruitless lawsuit that sought to overturn President Biden’s victory in [Georgia]." (Source)
  • Court hears motions from Powell, Lindell and Giuliani to dismiss Dominion's defamation lawsuit against them. No ruling yet but it is highly likely the case will not be dismissed and will be allowed to proceed.
In other words, the claim that the 2020 election was stolen is losing some of its traction. While many people still believe the election was stolen, that belief is not sufficient to move the courts or additional state legislatures to act in a way favorable to Trump's claims and desires. Indeed, a law license has been suspended, court costs are being paid by those who made and lost the pro-Trump cases, and defamation cases are likely proceeding. The false claims were not made without consequence to those making them. The chickens of the prior false claims are coming home to roost.

Public support of Trump may also be fading. Trump is predicting “Big crowds in the Great State of Ohio this weekend for the Trump rally.” I may be wrong. Trump may surprise me. But I expect the crowd size to be tiny compared to his campaign rallies of old. First, it's not campaign season. People's minds are elsewhere. Second, Trump simply does not have the ability to turn out people now like he did when he was the president or a presidential candidate. If he does not become a formally announced candidate again, he'll never turn out crowds as large as before.

Trump's stolen-election grievances are old news that have lost traction. The likelihood that the election will be overturned and/or that Trump will be reinstated is zero.

Nobody really knows the origin of the virus and we may never actually know where it made the jump from bats to humans.

No, he wasnt right, did some of the people who took it get better, yes but would they have recovered the same if had take nothing???? Hard to say....

Hunter Biden was working in Ukraine, a country thats entire economy is driven by corruption, did you think he was going to go over there and make it all good? He had to play by their rules, which means bribes and payoffs. If you got a job over there what do you think you would have to do?

Ok, Trump has said he won by a landslide, because he thinks that every vote for Biden was fraudulent, is that what you believe?

Plenty of hate on both sides, the Dems have no exclusive on that.

He didn't have to do anything. Don't take the bribe.
