Taliban video shows captured US soldier

An AP story appearing on the Drudge Report tonight asserts the Taliban have captured a young US soldier in Afghanistan. What's more chilling is the Taliban are using the captive in a propaganda video aimed at demoralizing the war effort.

Let us all pray for the safe return of this American soldier to his family. I cannot think of any instance where a captured American soldier has been shown mercy by a jihadist.

Yeah, they treat prisoners like garbage and then have the "stones" to complian if we get a tad rough. They kill them. They want protection of the Geneva Convention but NEVER give that protection to our soldiers.

Totally agree with ya Joe....

Warriors are made for killing and ours have to ask May I please...give me a break....I hope every situation they encounter is a forceful one where permission isn't asked...common sense in the battlefield prevails...Patton must be rolling in his grave in disgust...

I am sure that he is. We should fight this war like it was WWII and get it over with. THEN we could do things much like we did at the end of WWII in Japan and Germany with re-building etc. It worked quite well.

the Taliban doesn't have liberals gutting their war efforts. the Taliban does not have "terms of engagement, the Taliban doesn't have a liberal court system that takes is war time soldier to court for what happens on the battle field....

pray for this and all soldoers in our armed services....

The taliban is not ruled by King Putz the 1st either. Although he may agree with them on quite a few issues.

While i am all for massive airstrikes whenever and where ever...because of the terrain over there, its would be a "pita" and besides, barry isn't about bombs or even returning fire.....

Forget Barry. The reason people used to not mess with us was because they were scared of us. It's time to strike fear in the hearts of minds of people around the world. It's harsh, it's cold. it's sad because innocent people will end up dying, but it's what has to happen. We need to quit fighting with our hands tied behind our backs.

It is leaking out that he deserted his post, he simply walked away leaving everything behind including his weapon...I heard this on "Brian and the Judge" this morning.....

I haven't seen anything on this online yet and i am looking, at this point even if he deserted his post, we still need to get him back alive....then he can either clear his name or the military can bring charges....i hope this isn't true.....

OK, i found this link and a few others but nothing from the gov so far, which i doubt will come out if they feel he deserted until they have him back...again, i hope this is wrong, but if true............

On July 2nd, two Pentagon officials conceded a soldier had "vanished" after "walking off his base in eastern Afghanistan with three Afghan counterparts" after his shift, but wouldn't release details.

I have a feeling this kid never should have been deployed. From Hailey, Idaho, "Pfc. Bowe R. Bergdahl, a local family's only son who was home-schooled, danced at the ballet school and rode his bike all over the town of 7,000, was in the hands of the Taliban."

"Sue Martin, owner of Zaney's River Street Coffee House where Bergdahl poured espressos before enlisting in the Army in 2008, had installed a sign on the front counter urging people to keep "Our friend who has been captured in Afghanistan" in their thoughts and prayers."

Bike rider, home-schooled, ballet dancer, espresso maker. An army of one... who "just walked off" with three strapping young Afghan men.

I'm just sayin'....

There may be a lot of confusion and uncertainty in his life, and confusion and uncertainty in some areas of life can lead to the same in others, including whether or not to join the Taliban.
