I can't think of a single president who wouldn't use bin Laden's death to the fullest political extent possible. His foreign policy and actions have me questioning things a bit but not as much as Obama's need to make the death a political campaign point for reelection.

It just amazes me how many people - liberals and a certain percentage of the general population alike - think that the war on terror is over now that vengeance has been served on this one individual.
Turtle, this is the foundation for my point. Using it as a politcal vehicle is one thing but Obama and many others make it out as the end of terrorism and how we are now safer than we were before.
Listening to a few middle east terrorist 'experts' out of some university (didn't catch where they were from) this afternoon on the way home, I was struck by the conflicting comments being made by candidate Obama and these 'experts' on how Al Queda actually operates - Obama saying it is the end of the organization while they are saying that it is getting stronger in eastern Africa and maybe in Yemen.

Not saying he hasn't said that, but I haven't heard Obama say anything like that at all. In fact, I recall hearing him say specifically that the death of bin Laden in no way means the end of al Qaeda or terrorism or our fighting in Afghanistan. But even if he has said the death of bin Laden makes us safer, I think it would still fall under the "using bin Laden's death to the fullest political extent possible" umbrella. And I don't think it's "especially this one" who is doing it. I think every president would use it and milk it for all it's worth. Any president who would go the other direction and say his death really doesn't mean much in terms of stamping out terrorism would also be using that for political gain.Turtle, this is the foundation for my point.
