Some interesting charts. One can draw their own conclusions.
The O'Rielly chart is included from the welfare dept. Yep, wonder if they made that up.
Blowhard or not, the information he is using is coming from Gary D Anderson the secretary of public welfare in PA.
What is amazing as well as how many people are now disabled and collecting disability. Didn't realize we had so many dangerous jobs now.

with an aging population...the baby boomers.....there will be millions I mean literally millions in a few short years trying to collect every penny that is available...thru programs just to keep a roof over their heads....how many truck drivers have been thru the pain of bad knees/hips and never the money to have replacement kneecaps done....?....Now there are organizations to get them the care or show them the programs that have always been there but they never had access to...many an old injury is now popping up and has to be dealt with....i thinks that why the disability claims increase...

I think it should be pointed out that you can be "tied" to something without necessarily being "dependent" on it. For example, the "Certain percentage" of the 47 million on food stamps who can do without them, I, being a reasonable person, would not consider them "dependent" on the government, but would, absolutely, consider them "tied" to the government. And I wouldn't be exaggerating anything by doing so.

That is a reasonable opinion. :)
Conservative pundits have been overusing the word "dependent" to refer to all 47M people on any single or mix of entitlement programs. The percentage of those on just food stamps ( excuse me, The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is low; however, hoping to keep certain facts on the down low to make a point more dramatic usually catches up to the originator.
As far as "being tied" to the Government. That is a term with no certain definition so it is up to the reader to agree or not.
I receive toll assistance from FECC and I enjoy what little I get. I don't think of myself as dependent on it and I in no way feel tied to it.

Plus the information on HOW to get disability and WHY you qualify and WHY you need to apply is plastered all over the Internet by Attorneys who make their cut.
They are experts at convincing people to apply. Many provide a "free online disability Evaluation" which almost always leads to . . . You may qualify! To make an appointment call blah blah.

As the infamous Davekc once said, follow the money. :)

It could also be argued that those who are receiving food stamps from the government are 100% dependent on the government for those government food stamps. :D

All who do not need government assistance, like food stamps, should be off. Those programs SHOULD have VERY tight standards. Those who can afford luxury items, like pop, cigarettes, tats, cell phones, cable tv, cookies, cakes, illegal drugs etc, while on food stamps should lose them. IF they can afford luxury items they must has NO NEED for public hand outs. They are, by definition, ripping us off.

What 'government union'? SOME government employees, at the federal level belong to one of several unions. They should not be allowed but there is no 'government union' as far as I know. Please explain.

Raw stats are not useful other than to point out trends. For the stats to be of real value one would have to take out all needed government employees and those who earned government 'benefits'. Like Social Security, disabled vets etc.

There are, how ever, far too many people sucking up monies that they did not earn and will never earn. They are parasites. Like mold. They serve no purpose and are a drain on the country. They should be made to carry their own weight.

Nope... talked out of my butt. I thought I heard the SEIU was the largest in the world. However, that belongs to a union in China (go figure). The largest in the US is the National Education Association with about 2.7 mil captives... err... members.
