Maybe it's not falling because there are a lot of powerful countries with corrupt diplomats there. Oil for food ring a bell?

Sorry... but when the UN has China, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Pakistan, and South Africa on their Human Rights Council, who looks like the idiot? The US voted against creating that council because of countries like that being on it. Then we withdrew from it for the same reason. These countries are allowed to police themselves, and WE'RE the bad guy???

BTW... what do YOU think we should've done after Katrina? Do you think we should've marched all the nice, law abiding ppl upstate somewhere, and put them in $200,000 homes? Do you know how much was allocated, then squandered? Do you know the term 'good intentions'? Do you know the corruption ppl had to deal with down there, most of it the police? If all you have on Katrina are snippets of CNN and CBC, I think you should look a little deeper.

The US has always been at the forefront of human rights around the world, when it came to the UN. It's about time we stopped playing those European pompadour games.

As far as the UN comment with the countries on it and human rights.....AMEN to that. There does seem to be a conflicting issue of when to work with the UN and when not to. That bothers me some.

LDB: I like the comment about my confusion is reality setting in....Its a nice way to say I'm listening to other opinions...Thanks.

My politics really started with Bush Sr. Bombing Iraq and then Clinton in 1992. So you develop your opinions from there. At that time there was no real "history" of Carter or Reagan as president, other than they were. It was still a little too fresh for history books to evaluate, to younger kids anyway.

I have said I hope Obama engages McCain in debates, because I have liked some of the things he has done. I won't vote for Obama because he is black, but if I don't vote for McCain, it won't be because he is another Bush. I actually don't believe that personally. That is why Veep, I think, will be interesting selection for both candidates.

I don't know what WW2 has to do with the socialist party but it don't matter because if you know anything about socialism and embrace any of it's twisted and faltering ideals, then you block out truths and history. It is more complicated than what you cover in High school or where ever. I have a lot of classes on political ideologies and you can't learn a lot in a high school class.

Well blame this on the clinton administration. Why? because of Jamie Gorelick under Janet Reno put out a memo (really an order) that there was not to be any inter-agency sharing of information and this led the FBI not being able to talk to the CIA and so on. ALSO even if this was allowed, the Clinton administration treated terrorism as a police issue, not a military issue and 8 months into a new administration was not enough time to straighten up something that happened 8 years prior (and in truth still is messed up).

Well first thing is what pilgrims? if you are talking about the immigration issues we have today, blame that on Ted Kennedy and the 1965 immigration reform act, which opened the doors to every type of immigrant that we have been keeping out of the country since it was founded. That single piece of work is to blame for a lot of problems we have today and we should return to the pre-1955 immigration laws if we are to fix the problems like terrorism.

As for the constitution, I don't see any amendments that have been added and so far it has been trampled on by the people, the same people who say Bush is ignoring it.

You must be a fan, well I am not. She is the worst governor this state has ever had, worst than Blanchard and by all accounts I wish he was back in office. The top five would not ignore the problems the state has and anyone who voted for her, well they are dumb.

Well I would agree with you but the problem with the media is that they are not Americans, they are world citizens and by saying that they do not deserve the protections of our constitution. Also they are very selective on what they present to the public, if they were not the issue of race with Obama would not be in the spot light.

Good for you. But I will also ask you this, are you willing to recall your congressman and the two idiot senators we have in Washington?
Well i don,t like the way this Goverment is running! I hate granholm. That w---h has realy screwed this state up!Blanchard did ok but he had flaws too! I was refering to when the mayflower came over to from the united states.socialism or communissium.I have no problem with people getting legal citizionship,But i have a big problem with them coming over here and taking our jobs on work permits,or under the table. This is supost to be the Land of the Free, and home of the BRAVE.Of caurse you know more than anybody here.so I guess you need to get back on your STOOl

I stongly the Goverment needs to go back to be for the people of this country, and be decided by the people. The 2 party system does not work anymore!IT seems more like Church people party, flower people party, and the convicts Party.I just don,t get into details as you do!If we didn't learn from the great depression, maybe where just going to keep repeating it on a cycle.Well till the day of armageddon, where our maker decides our fate....Seems we are getting closer to the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon now Gregg, just because I'm not as articulate on my wording as you are, don't pick apart everything I say. :D

What specifically I meant, and if you read my other posts on McCain is.....

I hope Obama takes McCain up on his weekly debates or town hall meetings, because though I'm not a fan a of Bush, I like some of the things McCain has done or tried to do for campaign finance reform etc. I guess I am on the Obama side, but my mind is not made up until I hear the Veep choices and hear these two debate the issues a little bit and see how things play out. I was admiring McCain for not hiding for a few months until after the convention and to let the ads speak for him. I like the fact that he's ready to throw everything out on the table and let people decide. Whether they are for him or not. Whether you like Obama or not, I think HRC stole a couple primaries because she went negative in the last 48 hours to get over the top. I want a president that is not afraid to sit down and talk to us or debate the issues, not play the political game of hide and seek and drop a negative ad here and there. Thats all I was trying to say.

Oh, McCain.... I thought you were talking about Obama....

But this is what I get for living in a Boat..... and thinking that transflo is here at this truck stop... busy morning.....

Well there is not much of a choice for vp in the dems side, most of the good people won't run with obama or are ignored all together by the people who control the party.

The scary thing is on the repubs side because McCain does not have the party loyalty that many think he has, he has made a lot of enemies within the party and this is where a good person as a vp may be difficult to convince to run with him. There are only two people I would consider, one is Jindal, who I haven't seen a lot about but seems to be on the right track and the other is Palin (who I think would actually fight congress over the oil issues we have). The other people that I could consider are on the long list but who knows, McCain needs some balance and allow interaction with his 'running mate' and even let them run with some issues where Obama I think would be in the spot light too much and the choice will be in the background or even in the dark shadows waiting.

sdelliott, yes, you are at least engaging in discussions and not totally closed to input. There is hope for you yet. Your statement of fact that at least McCain has done some things is a good starting point. That coin has another side and the flip side is that Obama has done basically nothing other than vote the far left agenda when he's been present to vote. I'm more interested in McCain's VP choice than Obama, although that's an issue as well. There's nobody that could VP for Obama who could make his presidency make sense. For that matter, there's nobody McCain could choose that would move him from the bad position to the far side of Mr. Worst. The nightmare ahead is the possibility of all the new laws that aren't new laws because the legislature didn't enact them but we're bound by them because Obama puts people on the bench that are legislators not jurists. That should scare anyone with a lick of common sense to death.

They like McCain because he does talk tough to the middle east...for the same reasons you greg and Leo and Hawk point out...he's taking the high road....they (Iranians) won't take any chances if they even suspect the US will attack and will have to nogotate. McCain doesn't want war...but he also won't be afraid to dish out some tough love if he has to....he's been through it and knows the real horrors of war...Obama has only seen pictures and never lived it....

Don't get me wrong. I'm not telling you to drink the Republican Kool-aid. Just asking you to think outside the box that Liberals try to enclose us in from day one of public education, be it Canadian, American, or European.

Someone spiked the Republican Kool-aid, turning too many into Rhinos! I'm conservative first. That means I don't give a damm what the Republican nominee says his creed is. If he doesn't smell like a conservative, talk like a conservative, or VOTE like a conservative, he won't get my vote. Granted, McCain is MORE conservative than Obama. But that doesn't mean he's conservative. Same way Chelsea Clinton is prettier than Janet Reno. But she's still butt ugly! :D

OVM... do you have Sirius or XM?

McCain is a moderate, not a conservative. I'm a conservative not a party person. That said, I'll keep a liberal out if at all possible. I'll do even more to keep an ultra liberal out. Obama is as ultra liberal as they come. That means voting for the moderate who has at least some chance of defeating him and keeping him out.

Ark,there you go again, acting annd sounding like a back woods bully with a big bet buckle and a small brain. I know you get tired of feeling "picked on for being from 'bama",but by God boy don't act like a fool and people won't make negative assumptions
If you voted for bushwacked twice then you have no call to belittel the possably only hope to bring sanity back to our Republic. Wake up Ark,you sound like the vevry thing your trying to rise above with your education and road to a higher callling. That kind of religious baiting speaks to the lowest form ignorant southernn breeding that you fight so had to put behind.
