Clayton Pederson, the NRA representative for this area SD was one of the speakers and he shared some “interesting” information with us that he printed straight from the official US Department of Homeland Security website.

The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) under the Obama administration posted an Unclassified Assessment entitled: “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment”.

Within the official document is this quote: “The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks”!!

Also listed as possible terrorists are: “groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”

I find it absolutely incredible that the very veterans who put their lives on the line to defend our nation are now listed as possible terrorists, along with people who don’t believe in killing innocent pre-born babies and those who want our borders secure from illegal aliens!

I have never since their inception liked the DHS or Patriot Act...

The DHS has infiltrated nearly every government department and influence is felt across the country.....

There was a rather large surge in membership of certain racial groups like the KKK and skinheads when Obama got elected. Skinheads with plans were arrested in Tennessee. So the "political climate" reference is correct, and very real. Bad economic times can certainly lead people, especially mentally deranged radicals, to go off the deep end. As for veterans, if one has a single-minded issue and goes off the deep end, they are the very type of trained individuals who could do a real mess with a firearm and knowing some of the preventative measures that will be taken against them. Rambo is a good example.

Seriously, look up Charles Whitman, a man who honed his marksmanship skills in the Marines, who went off the deep end and killed 14 and wounded 32 others from atop the 28th floor observation deck of the Clock Tower on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin in 1966.

Timothy McVeigh was a Bronze Star Gulf War veteran with his own known affiliations being a registered Republican and a member of the NRA. A salient quote from McVeigh:

"Taxes are a joke. Regardless of what a political candidate "promises," they will increase. More taxes are always the answer to government mismanagement. They mess up. We suffer. Taxes are reaching cataclysmic levels, with no slowdown in sight ... Is a Civil War Imminent? Do we have to shed blood to reform the current system? I hope it doesn't come to that. But it might."

So don't think a well trained military veteran with questionable mental and emotional states who is fixated on a single issue in the midst of en economic downturn can't be a problem.

Aside from that though, there is certainly the threat of terrorism from nut jobs of every ilk, including extreme right wing and left wing. If I were a betting man, I would bet heavy on this alleged unclassified document being a load of crap. Just a toy for those who eat this nonsense up.

There was a Homeland Securtiy Threat Assement that had all of those points in it that came out about a month ago. The part of the vets drew major fire from the American Legion and VFW. The Chief of Homeland was on the radio trying to defend it. Not many believe the witch. The Legion AND VFW along with the NRA are looking at possible law suits. Yes, OVM, despite my 20 years service to this country I most likely am on one or more of the lists. It amazes me that this adimistration that is stocked full of people from the President on down who DID once run around with the "Kill the Pigs" crowd and called for the overthrow of the governemt are now getting to do what they wanted. Actually it is an official document that is done on a regular basis, one for the right and one for the left.

The problem is that it was 'written' to reflect the findings of the new administration, and Janet Reno Napolano already put out a PR sort of apologizing for the veteran thing after members of congress complained.

The left wing version however was paired down to a few pages like an executive summary and was removed a lot of the terrorist environmental group info and some of the Acorn funded groups.

You're gonna break that chin if your knee keeps jerking into it. No one, no one, said that veterans were terrorists. But veterans who are well trained in how to shoot a gun, who are having trouble reintegrating back into the real world, who might be a little off the deep end, and who is single minded and looking to blame someone, most definitely IS a danger and a terror threat. That includes you, if the shoe fits. It's part of the threat assessment, something to keep in mind.

I reiterate, Charles Whitman, Timothy McVeigh. The shoe fit them. If it doesn't fit you, then quit overreacting, quit trying so hard to be offended. The veterans groups who expressed outrage should calm down, take a pill, and be intelligent enough to view a threat assessment report for what it is.
