So who else wants to pick the pocket of the taxpayers?? The line is forming, what can the expediting business as a whole ask for? Or maybe just the individual business owners (those that own their truck) in this business and even those finding freight can get a handout also.........

Retailers Want In on Stimulus Plan

By ANN ZIMMERMAN

The country's largest retail trade association asked President-elect Barack Obama Tuesday to add a series of sales tax-exempt shopping days to a coming economic stimulus package in an effort to revive consumer confidence and spur spending.

The National Retail Federation called for three periods of sales tax-free shopping that would last 10 days each in March, July and October 2009. The trade group estimates that it would save consumers about $20 billion, or $175 per family......

Huh ?

"The country's largest retail trade association asked President-elect Barack Obama Tuesday to add a series of sales tax-exempt shopping days"

How 'zactly is the government not collecting sales taxes on purchases ..... picking the taxpayers pocket ?

Seems to me that if you were paying a tax, which the government then didn't collect, it would be "not getting into the taxpayers pocket" ..... I dunno  ....

Of course, the whole idea of the Feds reimbursing the states is just stoopid (...... where they figure the Feds are gonna get the money ?)

Problem is, these boneheads in DC have been printing funny money for so long they that they are gulible and can easily be convinced by lobbyists ..... that it's a "good idea" ....

For every action there is always a re-action..deny a certain segment of government aka towns, counties....any funds and voila you can bet some kind of "user fee" or "license fee" will appear or be increased to take the place of money "lost"

I would prefer to see if you want craziness ...and U.S made goods be tax-free.....BUT that would prolly be illegal somehow against trade laws!!

When Tax that is normally paid with every purchase, then the government agrees not to collect it, especially when we are borrowing money and running deficent spending, you are "shorting" the TOTAL of ALL taxpayers, not just saving "sales tax" for those not paying it on the certain days.

Now I am so frined of taxes in any way shape or form, but there are parts of the government that needs ithe taxs to pay the bils of the country. It is NOT the governments place to be invoved in the free market as it is in these bailout situations that will just continue to come up since we have opened the door with the banks and now the auto industry....He we have been baiing out farmers for as ong as i can remember.... So what the hell, just nationalize all of the bucinesses and get it over with.........

Once osmaba obtains his January coronation, we now have a total (only partial now with the bailouts) centralized planning system for our economic future.

We are about to see what happens when the sheep (aka 1932 Germans, 1922 Italians, 1948 Chinese Mainlanders) elect to sacrifice freedom for a planned economy. These bailouts or TAX Sharing asthey really are are just the beginning. Wait for the 675-775 billion in deficent government spending from osamaba with his "change!"

The results wil be just hunky dory here just as for those nations and all will be cured for us.

Enjoy the rationing, enjoy the solar powered skateboards and have fun.

Congratulations. That's the silliest thing I have ever read.

There are a few things to get all frothy about, but a few days a year of tax-free purchases ain't one of them. Ya got to pick your battles, dood. You can't just get all frothy over everything just for the sake of getting frothy, otherwise you come off looking, well, frothy.

Guess I an just silly frothy, cause it is BS as far as I am concerned and simply another industry asking for a handout from the government , but in this case, they just don't want to pay the tax that is normally collected.

As I said, I am not fan of Taxes and will work to screw the irs out of every dime I legally can, but I ain't askin them to cut me any deals because my business is in a mess!!

Just call me ""Frothy!":D

I think they are going to have a tough time convincing Obama. Just today I heard a clip from an Obama/McCain debate where Obama was criticizing Bush for suggesting after 9-11 that people should go out and spend money as usual on goods and services they want and need.

He must think he can spend our money better then we can...

"our" money!?!? Hmmm we won't have any money, he fees the need to "share" it with those that don't feel the need to work to make any.......you now, share the wealth, help those that don't elp themselves...this will in turn turn the whole country into one big welfare state.....you understand, nationalism, socialism.............
