After so many years of experiencing shame, guilt by association and physical discomfort at the mear site of w,it's a geat relief to feel pangs of being a proud American again. For all the bone head excuse's,lack of protocal (winking at the Queen) and misuse of the language (the ambassador from Ghana had to correct him one memorable time) it's just ****ed refreashing to know I won't have to make excuse's to my good friends overseas every stinking day.The leader of the free world can not only speak to world leaders without blowing every other sentence,he and his wife are quickly regaining (and repairing) the respect of working people for Americans in far away lands.

I know, this scinario strikes anger and fear in the hearts of those who long for another Texas million dollar cowboy with absolutly no idea of the damage he and his train wreck wreaked on the world. But,alas it no longer matters.I for one am about 2 inch's taller with my jaw no longer ensconsed in my chest when our leader appears in public. "Whats's he going to say now" is no longer a fear. "How will I explain this to my friends overseas when the emails start coming in",as they did after every public w speech. But it's on the world stage that w's style was so appauling, and the Obama's are so thrilling. It is truly remarkable that the PR shambles left just 3 months ago is changing so quickly. The axis of evil verbage is being replaced with straight talk about how to over come differences, not we have a bigger stick. For N Korea, they are on the edge of pushing the envelope and will be dealt with. They should have been spanked hard, but alas we invaded Iraq. W let them off the hook. Those sorry *** days are over.

I for one believe once again the best days are ahead. I have a pretty good track record on this forum for predicting the political future (w made it easy) but this time we have a leader who is educated, open, bright and charismatic. His wife is no slouch either. I know,Sara Palin would be many of your choice as a woman who could best capture the imagination of the world, but, ahhh, that dope dealing Mother of her daughters ex boy friend, father of her granddaughter,oh well, never mind. Ms. Obama rocks, and represents me and you, like it or not,so get over it.

It is always nice to see a opposing view. I will say that I am not ready to embrace Obama as you have based on what he has done so far.
Actually, I don't see much of anything other than what we saw with the last administration except throwing more money around that we don't have. But it has only been 100 days or so, so we will have to see what happens.

Learning to be proud?

Are you kidding me?

Tallcal, what made you not proud of your country? You seem to be successful, even though I think you are misplaced (business man/liberal). Lots of people come here to live in freedom, to work as they want to and to escape the things that Obama represents. It is not a far right hick view but a view of an awful lot of Brits, Aussies, Canadians, Mexicans, and a lot of others.

OH I am not proud of my former president, he and his party gave the country away as far as I’m concern but his people (administration) seemed to be a far bit better equipped than what we have now. Most of these people now are Clinton people or some who are not well in tune with things – in other words socialist. They view the world through a different set of glasses, and **** everything American because we are not like the French or brits.

If I was you, I would fear right now, not be proud of the president. In the last few days he has committed our country to more money for the IMF; our share will be a bit more than others while at the same time he has pushed a budget that makes Bush’s tame in comparison. Aren’t his policies actually an extension of Bushes policies? What ever his policies are, WE CAN’T AFFORD TO DO THIS ANY MORE.

Is there anything to be proud there?

This is on top of the reaching out to the Taliban BS, the messed up message that Hillary has sent to the Iranians and the mess that North Korea is starting up. The Iranians were clear; they never ever said a thing about talking to the US when Hillary said this – another red button issue? Do you honestly think that the UN can do a thing to help that mess, the UN started the war almost 60 years ago and it is a stalemate since. The message is clear, the leadership will no longer take a strong position on any issue other than what our ‘friends’ tell us to do.

Is there anything to be proud there?

Then we have the AIG debacle, you should be concern with this one because now we have the ramblings of the house about controlling everyone’s wages – do you think they are only talking about the companies that got some government money?

Once that happens, you will be forced to pay not what you think is fair but what the government thinks is fair – welcome comrade.

Is there anything to be proud there?

We now have Pelosi telling us that there will be a global warming legislation by 2010, did you think that it may kill our economy more than anything else can. They are not just talking cap and trade but also carbon tax on top of it. But then again you can’t see how that may have a negative effect on people who actually work in this country, right?

On top of that, the other day a bunch of analyst said “we don’t think that the Electric Car and alternate energy will make it in the US. GM should shelve the Volt, the push for green things should wait until we are stabile enough to sustain it” Obama is pushing for the green thing to appease the left who put him in office, not worried about people like me or others who are really struggling.

Is there anything to be proud there?

The friend of the people? Yea right, he is an elitist, and nothing less. His wife, another unelected official of our government has told us that she is proud of her country because of a black man being able to run, how elitist is that? If they lived as the they claimed they did, they would not have been living in a house that could house 10 families. They are the same millionaires that they tell us to despise.

Is there anything to be proud there?

He knows how to talk to people of other countries because he is a lot like them, not us. He is the favorite of the leaders of these countries because they fail to understand the American way or culture but **** us for our existence. They like him because he blames the same people who make this country great for the ilks of the world and that is why many of us would rather have the arrogant American representing us than the ***** *** Frenchman.

There is nothing to be proud of when someone is giving our country away, is there?

Proud? Of what? A country being run by admitted criminals? Foolish diplomatic antics the sure sign of immaturity? Fascism? Socialism? Curtailment of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights? For what? A massive debt, loss of sovergnity? A continuing invasion across our southern border? Government take over of our economy? I am ashamed, embarresed and discusted. Only mal-contents and uninformed dreamers could be proud today. I for one am considering curtailment of all my income tax payments. I will NOT give in to any man nor government that would destroy my Constitution. I would rather die than live under the thumb of what is being shoved down our throats. I have no doubt that it is going to come to that.I feel sorry for you TalCal101, I really do. To be willing to put your faith in a known admitted criminal who seeks nothing more than total control of the American People is a very sad thing to see. To my way of thinking it is a sign of a lack of values and a total mis-understanding of the most important word I can think of, Freedom. Layoutshooter

You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time. Apparently when the majority of the electorate are fools it's a reason to be proud. I'm no koolaid drinker and would rate Bush 43 with about a C. So far Obama is a D- at best. I'm no fool and I'm not proud of the one in the oval office.

I guess TC didn't hear about the Leno show. And, I guess he hasn't heard what Obama sounds like when the teleprompter goes down. OMG, W winked at the Queen! Let's not lose sight of the fact that the royals are simply people that were born into that family. There sole function is to... ahhh... well, I don't think they really have anything they need to do. Why is it that they're a big deal? Yeah, Obamas Ipod really made a HUGE diplomatic impact!

from the AP WASHINGTON – As North Korea fueled a multistage rocket Thursday for its threatened satellite launch, President Barack Obama promised a "stern" response and Japan vowed to press for an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council. Senior U.S. defense officials said that trailers and vehicles carrying rocket propellant were in place at North Korea's coastal launch site and that fueling had begun.

OK, the UN already has spoken, they said "bad Kim Jong-il, you bad boy.... we are taking your Kimchee away and you have to stand in the corner for a time out"

Obama has already showed the North that there will be no action against them, saying you will go to the UN is about the same as saying "if you don't give me my marbles back, I telling dad".

The difference here is Obama does not know what to do, the press is using the excuse that Hawaii can be a target but I think so.... right now we don't need diplomacy, we need a sense of strength.

Obama bows down to Saudi King

Open the link and watch the video....The sad part is that this is seen as a sign of weakness as the "subservant subject" bows to his master......That should make the liberals really proud.........

It is true that things don't look a lot diffrent then they did last years at this time.It will certainly take more then 100 days to clean up the trash heap that took 8 years to pile up. Although foolish behavior was tolerated, even encouaged by a second vote, for those of us who smelled the rat long before it munched on cheese,it's a celebration to be on track. The debt to the Chinese was piled high by w after he spent the surplus and went to war for the pig stabbing joy of it.Get real folks.
By the way,it's true that w ran several business's, INTO THE GROUND,so it's no surprise he ran the country into the ground as well.Computers in the White House? I don't need no stinkin' computers, toss em in the closet boys.

By the way Dave,it's great to be back !!! Opposition is what keeps us honest.

But you guys defend him,and all he stood for.Guess what, who cares, not one friggin thinking person I know cares. However,it's important to remember less we repeat the nightmare. The story of w,and the lies and offense's (some yet to be exposed)and paticularly the mind set of those who put him in power must never be glossed over. Our country can only stand one such episode.Ever.

Homes in my neighborhood are once again (already) recieving multiple offer's over asking. The entire Penninsula real estate market from San Fran to Sunnyvale is close to being on fire again.Celebrate your negative outlook and be part of the problem if you chose.
I have a different agenda and I'm not alone.

But see Tallcal, you prove that the hatred for Bush was there before he took office and continued through his entire administration. No other time has there been so much hate towards one man as there has with this one. Like it or not he was president, he had to do something to get there where we couldn’t.

In the case of Obama, he was elected because he was different and different is cool. He had no real substance and in comparison to even Carter’s first 100 days, Obama is failing. The problem, really the true problem has been the hype of the messiah coming to save us, he has been held up as history, living history when he has not done a thing other than appeal to the ignorant of this country (not say you are either but look around) and speak in a way that every person hears what they want to hear – it was the same for Hitler and Mussolini.

I actually feel sorry for the people who think that a black man in the white house is history, they don’t know a thing about history or the accomplishments of the race let alone the teachings of Rev King. But again this is the United States and in another year or so we will have some more changes that may stop the madness.

From what I've observed Bush bent the rules, took liberties to suit his causes as well...
OBama is doing the same thing...

What difference would it make if he threatened the GM board...to fire Wagoner,to name which board members to fire, or no money....and let them do it...
or the way he did it? Procedure?
Once they took that first taxpayer dollar they must have known there would be some reprecussions.

Instead of buying the milk from the store he went directly to the cow....

Greg, you can't expect Obama, a coward, a man with NO experience in ANY real life situations to handle North Korea. We cannot expect the UN to do it, they are not working in our best interest. It is up to us to do exactly that. We won't the situation will escalate, it always does. We have been not acting in our best interest since Dwight D was in. Carter really put us in a mess. Reagan sorta had the right idea but punked out in Lebennon. Clinton was a total joke and Bush 1 and 2 only sorta showed up. THAT is why we are in a mess. We need to look out for number one. We should, today or tomorrow before it is too late, hit those missles on the pads. That is why we have cruse missles. Layoutshooter

Possibly the most honest evaluation in the soapbox for quit awhile.I would add Clinton as a -C mainly because he had a zipper problem that he let distract me from concentrating on his job.

It's a dangerous game to proclaim one's lack of foolishness on this forum. However,in a gesture to keep things impersonal,I would suggest to Leo that such a proclimation could very well be construed to the famous Nixonian admission "I'm not a crook".
The ultra right crowd just love to grandstand and claim higher ground. It's nothing new,but it's a little trite at this point, all things being considered.

Just for your information,we invite you to come along, but your proclimations about what your are NOT does little to reinforce just exactly what it is that you ARE . If I were in your shoes I would also be cautious to describe exactly what I stand for. You may then have to justfy your foolishness in voting for "it" twice. That could be demmed as the actions of a fool. Once a fool ,oh never mind. I so hate to say I told you so, OVER AND OVER, but what else can I say? I told you so.

I'm getting prouder as each day pass's. Soon,I will pinch myself and w will be out of the light and under a rock in Crawford for ever. I'm sure his speaking tours will be sold out NOT.

If this is even true it's more of a testament to just how bad our education system has fallen then how bad W was. When you open your eyes and honestly evaluate the past 3 presidents they all three end up near each other at the stellar high position of average to just above average. thou unfair to judge a president solely on his first 100 days it appears that O is a falling star headed to the glorious level of Filmore, Pierce or Buchanan. I think we all hope that O does the necessary cranial extraction to prevent this, but it's not looking so good.

To be truly honest W,Clinton and 41 are all average to just above average, honestly 41 is around the 22th-21st Clinton right at 21st-20th and W no higher than 19th honestly. As to trying to make a point with Tricky Dick, I have never figured out why Nixon was a Republican outside of he being used to unseat a unpopular Democratic State Representative.

It was unfortunate that the far right made Bernard Goldberg a poster child, well until he came out with "Crazies to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right: How One Side Lost Its Mind and the Other Lost Its Nerve" and they realized hes not a right winger but a critical thinker something that has been abolished in our present education system much past 4th or 5th grade. As pointed out in his book "Biased" our system is so far gone it does not even poses the tools necessary to diagnose it's own problem.

Anytime people blindly fallow a leader that usually leads to wars, real bad ones, and this is a major concern with our present situation. It's always odd to me that the left is so anti-war when they are the ones who start most of them or make a situation totally worse so that a minor conflict becomes a major blood fest.

Can O and our education fix themselves and our problems? doubtful,Presidents are sent to do a job not be a savior and education systems are to teach you how to think not what to think.Until people stop accepting the party line as law we are not going anywhere just sliding down a slope into the rest of the planets mediocrity instead of being a true leader.

As usual, you have very little - if any - command of the facts.

"As President and Mrs. George W. Bush leave Washington, D.C., 'welcome home' signs are appearing in the Dallas neighborhood where they will settle.
Here, SMU will house the library and museum providing resources that will chronicle the history of the Bush Presidency and host scholars and dignitaries for dialogue and study. SMU welcomes President and Mrs. Bush to campus and home to Dallas." (emphasis mine)

Bush Presidential Library Update Homepage

Of course you and the other liberals and democrats have every right to gloat, be proud, or whatever because your guy won the election fair and square. However, your continual obsessive, pathological Bush hatred displayed in every post is not only getting old - it sounds a bit weird. If you're proud of the way Barack Hussein Obama is handling things - great, enjoy it. George Bush is back in TX, out of politics and his two terms are finished - get over it.
