Franklin Graham and the cultural battles.

Franklin Graham, who leads the Billy Graham Evangelical Association and Samaritan's Purse, is searching for ways to boycott corporations which have openly endorsed the homosexual lifestyle. This past week, Graham decided to move bank accounts for BGEA and Samaritan's Purse from gay-friendly Wells Fargo bank to BB&T bank. These bank accounts under Graham's stewardship are estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Problem is, BB&T has sponsored gay-pride events from time to time.

Graham might eventually have to settle on a solid Christian-friendly state chartered bank as most, if not all, large banks with a national presence have succumbed to unrelenting pressure from the homosexual community. Practically no corporation can withstand the shaming campaigns perfected by the LGBT forces.

Graham and like-minded Christian business leaders could organize an attempt to identify banking institutions which are Christian-friendly. Billions of dollars in private accounts would move if such banks would step forward. Graham's frustration might yield good news. Time will tell.

Maybe you should start a "movement" and "encourage" evangelicals to deposit their money into a "Southern based" bank.

Graham will have to organize the Christian Broadcast Network and other sympathetic media to get his project off the ground. Unfortunately for him, the LGBT forces have Hollywood, the MSM and public education on their side who for many years have been conducting the campaign to normalize homosexuality, transgenderism, and nonsense like gender fluidity. It's amazing how much influence a noisy minority can have over major corporations, but everybody's money spends the same and the noisy minority controls a lot.

I don't blame anyone for leaving wells fargo, I left them too after I saw they were charging me for cash deposits.

What Wells Fargo did was pretty over the top. They overtly promoted same sex marriage and raising children in such a marriage as being both normal and just wonderful. So wonderful, in fact, that it was hard to tell if they were advertising banking services or gay marriage.

Yeah ... that's a real chuckle ain't it ?

BTW - was there something Wells Fargo specifically did that was unfriendly towards Christians ?

It seems to me, that businesses and corporations - who are largely all about mammon - are more tolerant than bloviating, self-proclaimed Christians (who are often utter hypocrites - Franklin Graham being a fine example of such )

That in itself is kinda funny ...

Yeah, sort of. The commercial wasn't specifically anti Christian, but it was blatantly pro "two mommies." The ad took a specific political position on gay marriage.

"We understand it may not resonate with everybody, but it taps into something important and universal, and is an expression of our commitment to the LGBT community at large," said Jamie Moldafsky, chief marketing officer for Wells Fargo. (Well Fargo is a San Francisco based bank, incidentally, not that there's anything wrong with that.)

But, if nothing else, the commercial (and the the others in their "diversity" campaign) will go a long way to making you forget that Wells Fargo helped set up the financial crisis, was part of the bank bailout, and was heavily involved in the predatory lending and mortgage crisis.

Wells Fargo runs a huge risk of alienating customers by running these ads in the Evangelical South. The ads really are more about activism than banking. It's a poke in the eye to Christians and Wells Fargo knows it. Underestimating the will and sensibilities of Christians has a long and interesting history.

Yep, pure activism, and their comments prove it. The campaign as a whole is about the diversity of their customers and how Wells Fargo can be the bank for you, no matter who you are. They have, I think, 7 different commercials so far, none of which show their commitment to the Christian community the way they show their "commitment to the LBGT community."

They're ignoring the religious community at large. The religious community doesn't fit in with the activism.

... how is being tolerant of a particular group being "unfriendly" towards Christians ?

Being "tolerant" isn't being unfriendly at all towards anybody. However, openly and actively promoting something that Christians are against is "sort of" being unfriendly towards Christians (and anyone else who opposes it).

As another example, the 2 years I lived in Pittsburgh, I regularly, routinely and very much on purpose wore t-shirts, sweatshirts and baseball caps with Bengals logos and messages on them. I actively and openly promoted the Bengals. That's "sort of" being unfriendly to Steelers fans, even though I never wore anything which disparaged the Steelers in any way.

The thread left out the rest of Humpty Dumpty gang... Mercy, it is an epidemic of sorts.

LGBT or GLBT is an initialism that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. In use since the 1990s, the term is an adaptation of the initialism LGB, which itself started replacing the term gay when in reference to the LGBT community beginning in the mid-to-late 1980s,[1] as many felt the term gay community did not accurately represent all those to whom it referred.[2] The initialism has become mainstream as a self-designation and has been adopted by the majority of sexuality and gender identity-based community centers and media in the United States and some other English-speaking countries.[3][4] The phrase is also used in some other countries, in whose languages the initialism is meaningful, such as France and Argentina.

The initialism LGBT is intended to emphasize a diversity of sexuality and gender identity-based cultures and is sometimes used to refer to anyone who is non-heterosexual or non-cisgender instead of exclusively to people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.[2][5] To recognize this inclusion, a popular variant adds the letter Q for those who identify as queer or are questioning their sexual identity as LGBTQ, recorded since 1996.[6] Some intersex people who want to be included in LGBT groups suggest an extended initialism LGBTI,[7][8] and this initialism is used in all parts of "The Activist's Guide" of the Yogyakarta Principles in Action.[9] Some people combine the two acronyms and use the term LGBTIQ.

Furthermore, the initialism LGBTIH has seen use in India to encompass the hijra identity and related subculture.[10][11] More recently, the catch-all terms GSM ("Gender & Sexual Minorities", or "Gender and Sex/uality Minorities" for those who include intersexuality), GSRM ("Gender, Sexual, and Romantic Minorities"),[12][13] and GSD ("Gender and Sexual Diversity")[14] have been proposed.

Whether or not LGBT people openly identify themselves may depend on whether they live in a discriminatory environment, as well as on the status of LGBT rights where they live.[15]

Note: there will not be a test on this for now....

Nobody [and corporations are people too!] can be everything to everyone, or make everybody happy. WF really needs to make a lot of people happy, to cancel out the millions they've already made unhappy [with those pesky details Turtle pointed out in their recent past], so they picked their group. I suspect they believe they're betting on "the future", but they overlook one important thing: who picks their bank based on social adverts, rather than on services and fees?
Dumb people, and they don't end up owning the kind of money it takes to keep WF happy, lol.

Wait - first you say Graham will have to organize sympathetic media on his behalf, then you say the "other side" has Hollywood, the MSM,& public education - so who's the minority?
Like it or not, evangelical Christians are the noisy minority today, not everyone else. Major corporations [except for specifically Christian ones] know that too. As my granddaughters would say, it sucks to be you, right now.
