So.....did everyone who needed to sign up beat the deadline?
I do not have insurance. The fine is a better option.

Group is different than the government outlawing policies. AND, for the vast majority of our adult lives we have either paid all, or most, of the cost of our insurance. On top of that, many want it for FREE! At least in Europe EVERYONE pays taxes to cover socialism. Too many freeloaders.
Like when I was laid off when we had our first son, I paid 100% of that. WE fed him, WE paid for his DR care, WE bought his clothing, housed him, bought his glasses. NO help from others, WE EARNED our way.
Now explain, how is it MY responsibility to pay for someone else's lives? Should they not cover their own lives? I will never have another child, can't happen. No need for me to cover those costs. I have different needs, and priorities, at this stage in life.
How can I cover those needs and responsibilities when it is no longer legal to do it? We are NOT able to buy insurance due to Obamacare. Our income is TOO low. Our $243, give or take, per month BEFORE Obamacare, is now more than $1800 per month. We USED to have access to over 200 policy choices, now there are 20. We USED to be able to cover the risks we face, now we cannot.
Does that enhance freedom or liberty?

Civil disobedience.
Where does the other $850 come from?
Maybe that's the case in a nutshell. Take particular note of #3 (emphasis mine), and remember Obama's promise to "fundamentally transform" America. You either did not read the article or are incapable of understanding how insurance works. Or, perhaps, you want nothing to do with any sort of cooperative society.
SOCIALISM
noun
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

Not hardly; a significant majority of the American public has never favored the socialist policies of ObamaCare and only 39% approve now that it's been in effect for a over a year. As the consequences become move obvious and the costs continue to rise, this number will continue to get smaller.Well, good luck, then. It's roughly 7 billion against one...

Maybe I did. Your point seems to be that you favor the socialist health care system advocated by the MSNBC article, and that some of us "are incapable of understanding how insurance works". If that's not your point, perhaps you'd like to clarify it. BTW, where did you get that "7 billion" figure??Way to miss the point !

Ysracer, no one on Earth belongs to a cooperative society totaling 7 billion people. It is difficult to get people to cooperate at a traffic light, let alone this "we are the world" collective imagined by some. Competition is omnipresent, cooperation not so much.
Co-op smacks too much of collectivism, socialism, communism and related left-wing philosophies. Moreover, the phrase "cooperative society" is redundant. The term society implies some basic level of order and organization within a community.
God and country. No one owes allegiance to the world, unless you are planning intergalactic travel.
