After defeating their rivals in Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, Muslim extremists are focusing their attacks on Christians in Gaza City. Christians in Gaza City have issued an appeal to the international community and a plea for protection against the increased attacks by Muslim extremists.

Father Manuel Musallem, head of Gaza's Latin church, told the AP that Muslims have ransacked, burned and looted a school and convent that are part of the Gaza Strip's small Romany Catholic community. He told the AP that crosses were broken, damage was done to a statue of Jesus, and at the Rosary Sister School and nearby convent, prayer books were burned.

Gunmen used the roof of the school during the fighting, and the convent was "desecrated," Mussalem told the AP.

"Nothing happens by mistake these days," he said.

Father Musalam additionally told The Jerusalem Post that the Muslim gunmen used rocket-propeled grenades (RPGs) to blow through the doors of the church and school, before burning Bibles and destroying every cross they could get their hands on.

Catholic Online reports that the heads of Christian churches in the Holy Land have urged both sides to put aside their weapons, noting that the infighting diverted international attention from the national goal of Palestinian independence.

"This domestic fighting where brother draws his weapon against brother is detrimental to all the aspirations of achieving security and stability for the Palestinian people," they said. "In the name of the one and only God as well as in the name of each devastated Palestinian, many of whom are still dying, we urge our brothers in the Fatah and Hamas movements to listen to the voice of reason, truth and wisdom."

One young woman told the Catholic News Service that she was concerned the Islamic extremists would "enforce a strict dress code, forcing women to wear veils and robes." One Christian teenager spoke to the Catholic News Service on the condition that her name not be used. She said the days of fighting had been "very difficult" but they were "OK now."

We all hope it will be better, but it will never ever be good with Hamas," she said.

Approximately 2,500 Christians live in Gaza

For those that are concerned about muslims in the US being offended or outraged by the threat of Koran burnings, they'll be glad to know that state and federal officials - in TN at least - are on the job and will not tolerate this type of activity.
KPD, FBI investigating shot and burned Quran left at Knoxville mosque

An official with a Knoxville mosque - where a shot and burned Quran was found - said this morning he views the incident as isolated and not indicative of how the community feels...
Knoxville Police Department Deputy Chief David Rausch this morning said police are working with the FBI on the incident.
"It's obviously being looked at as a possible hate or intimidation crime," Rausch said.

I wonder if the same attention is given by the FBI to desecrated religious items left on the grounds of churches and synagogues.

I don't know if you will find any Mormons coming to the aid of Muslims, although there is one Mormon that I know of that might, if the price was right.

Yes they do give the same attention. Any and all types of crimes like this are investigated by the fbi.

The recent burning of the Koran up in Lansing has been hushed up a lot, it was addressed Saturday but overall the FBI is looking into trying to charge someone with ethnic intimidation which I think may be a case of freedom of Expression. Well anywho, it has not been too public and hasn't gotten to the point where o'rielly or Hanity has said peep about it.

Oh give them two a chance, if it can be politicized, where it makes the President look bad, they will be all over it, like white on rice. Hannity first, then O'Reilly will try and look partisan but give him a week, maybe two, and he will be singing the same tune as the rest of FOX news.

Well I can't see how it would make him look bad. This is way beyond him as the original issues of the Mosque is also way way beyond him.

By the way, they had the two nut-jobs who started all of this on the radio, maybe it was an old interview but regardless their reasoning behind all of this has nothing to do with the Mosque.

I like from their 'blog'... SIOA is a human rights organization dedicated to freedom of speech, religious liberty, and individual rights; no special rights for special classes.

I'm really really starting to think that this is the first actual Big Lie campaign of the 21st century and a lot of people are fooled into believing the BS that is coming from the few just to make money. I can only believe that their little blog is raking in the bucks now and bet that a lot of this has been staged. I also think if you, Witness, getting after Beck and others, you need to take a look at some of these others who are feeding Beck and others with propaganda.

I thought this article had deja vu written on it all over again. :D

Somehow, I think it was placed to show the hypocrisy about burning Bibles vs Korans. Bibles, I guess, were made to keep Muslim extremists and liberals warm at night.
