For serious television, with a discriminating eye, try Fox News Channel. You get the news with E.D. Hill, Martha McCallum, Megan Kelly, Julie Banderas, Domenica Davis, and a bevy of other legcrossers.

Sorry to interrupt the various Food Channel chatter going on here with something that might actually have a topical relevance, but the difficulty with making pronouncements about certain things is when you don't bother to look at what is actually occurring, or what happened, is that one is often incorrect .....

Being incorrect, as a general matter, often does not lead to good outcomes in Life ....

I saw part of it - not because I had tuned into watch it, but because my wife was flipping around on the channels and she happened to settle in on it - largely as a matter of curiosity, certainly not because she or I are in the fan club. I was on the computer, and while I did not devote the entirety of my attention to entire extravaganza, I did pay enough attention to it, on and off, to make a couple of observations. What actually happened:

1. Obama did fairly well - specifically answering up, off the prompter - particularly given the nature of alot of the questions (you guys should have tuned in - you might have enjoyed it - but I'll get to that in a minute ) He was fairly articulate and conversant in a logical way with the issues that came up. Alot (not all) of what he said in terms of positions or policy, was in my estimation, the sane, rational response. Please, please keep in mind that saying something and actually doing it are entirely different things - there is a disconnect there already - and that may well become even larger as time goes on (seems likely)

2. The honeymoon is over. He was raked pretty good by some of the questioners ..... certainly people that one wouldn't normally associate as being anti-Obama .... Chip Reid, Jake Tapper, to name a couple of the questioners - and these guys were cued up on a list of questioners that Obama picked them from (and you absolutely can bet that list was vetted to those that his handlers deemed "friendly")

One should understand one thing:

What is generally termed the MSM (East Coast, liberal, elite, etc.) would normally be in Obama's camp - that certainly didn't appear to be the case last night - the reason is our current circumstances as a nation.

At this point, all bets are off - these guys (the media) just can't help themselves ..... it is what they do .... they are like sharks following a boat that's dumpin' buckets of chum off the tail .... the politics don't matter.

"He was fairly articulate and conversant..."

You left out, "clean and smelt good". :D

The press builds 'em up, then tears 'em down. That's what they do.

We did get to see a little glimpse, possibly, of how the annoying questions can get under Obama's skin. He had little patience for Ed Henry's follow-up question as to why Obama waited a few days before going public with his outrage over AIG. Instead of the arms up, shoulder-shrugging, aw shucks hemming and hawing of Bush, Obama got downright testy. This could mean that Press Corps annoying questions will be few and far between in the future, or, more likely, a button to be pushed had been found, and the sharks of the Press Corps know that with the push of a button comes chum.

Incidentally, the Secret Ingredient on Wednesday night's Iron Chef America was, coincidentally, chum. The most often used appliance in the kitchen was the Bass-O-Matic.

He was certainly clean - even I could see that ..... however on the other thing I dunno ..... we still have one of those old-fashioned analog TV's, not a digital one ..... the smells don't come thru it all that well.
