    app for truck routes

You should keep a Motor Carriers Road Atlas with you. I refer to mine every day. In the front section, they list by state restricted routes for trucks. Granted, It is more useful for major hwys and state routes, but is a good guide to have around. I use a Garmin Nuvi 50 GPS and google maps on...

    Finally got the forklift

The very best to you and your new venture. As for safety, maybe insisting on drivers chocking wheels would be a suggestion. I personally stopped a forklift driver from driving off the back of a truck as the truck was rolling away from the dock. Just curious, how are you marketing your...

    RE-GEN problem

I was at freightliner dealership today and saw a memo about diesel fuel in DEF system. It said the only way it could happen is if someone accidently pumped fuel into DEF tank. And, the same for DEF in fuel tank, someone would have to pump it in. Hope that helps. BTW, the memo went on to say...

    RE-GEN problem

I don't have a DEF system on my truck, but I have a DPF. The term RE-Gen, or regeneration, is usually associated with DPF. What exactly are you having trouble with? I may be off base here, just trying to help.

    Atlanta Air Freight

I drove a straight truck for ATLExpress in the late 90's hauling air freight for them. Maybe things have changed, but their website shows them using big trucks, too.

    Straight Trucks with APU

Re: streight trucks with APU I always park in back for exactly this reason. I have an APU and a reefer (all my loads are refrigerated). I back up as far as possible to stay clear of big truck sleepers. So far, no one has hit me, but I have seen it happen several times.

    Blitz last week

I spent last week running between Atlanta and Florida. I didn't see any signs of "blitz" at any scale or on the road. By the way, why did they build those huge inspection barns you could park a blimp in? I never see them being used.

    Self Protection

I read on EO a few yrs ago that tying a small ratchet strap between the driver and passenger doors and snugging it up will help prevent entry into truck. I guess it would at least slow someone down and give you some time to react. If a window is busted to get to lock, the doors won't be able to...

    Before good GPS

When I first got started in '94 hauling airfrieght out of Hartsfield, Atlanta, I relied on an atlas to get me to the city or town and then stopped and bought a local street map. I had a collection of them. To this day, even with a GPS, I still rely on Atlas and use it several times a day.

    Yellow penske trucks

If someone is willing to alter the numbers on the manufacturers GVWR tag, I would bet money they would try and put as much freight in the box as they could, regardless of the weight. JMO

What is more comfortable after driving 700 miles a straight truck or sprinter?

I drive an '08 Cascadia straight truck with an upgraded drivers seat.....very comfortable. I have been in a small Hino and an M2 Business class also. They both beat me up. For me, A class 8 tractor is the way to go driving OTR.
