How many of you have health/medical insurance?

LOl...just don't use the VA's in Illinois. Unfortunately thay have a bad rep for spending little as possible on vets. Poor treatment. Private medical/health insurance is so freaking expensive. It would be nice to have. Curious if people have it or how much they are paying for it.

Are there any expo companies that use company drivers?

Hey Brisco, thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. Can understand why you would feel that way, but it's not so much the security of the weekly paycheck but security of getting that check owed to you. Just seems easier for an individual guy to not pay you, not maintain the truck...

Are there any expo companies that use company drivers?

Are there any expediting companies that employ company drivers? How about OTR companies that use straight trucks (company drivers)? I would feel better working for a company as opposed to being at the mercy of an individual owner as far as truck maintenance is concerned, secure in receiving my...

How much fuel is used when idling a straight truck?

Thanks, I thought I had read in a post somewhere it was a gallon every hour, I couldn't find the post though. Defenitely sounds like an APU is worth the cost. Just a ballpark, what is the cost for an average APU on a straight truck?

    straight trucks & truck stops

I apologize, I wasn't implying that I didn't consider straight truck drivers real truck drivers, I was doing it more in asking if thats how T/T drivers see the straight truck drivers as? Thats why I was wondering if they get pissed if we are in one of thoose slots because they don't see us as a...

Thanks for all the info and your time. Your right, questions I should ask my O/O. It sounds like having an APU on board is the difference between night and day.

    straight trucks & truck stops

Hey thanks, Thats what I kind of figured, its easier for us to improvise a space than a T/T. Not that I don't consider us real truckers, I just kind of feel for them looking for space where there are more thrucks than spaces, its not like they can improvise as easily.

    straight trucks & truck stops

So here is maybe a weird question. I know parking can be tough for tractor trailers to find at truck stops, so as a straight truck do they get somewhat pi**** because you are parking in a spot they could use. Do they see us as not real truckers because its a straight truck? or is there...

Can a van driver in Chicago make good $$

Thanks for your advice. I'm thinking that too. Now to find someone to drive for is the challenge. I've noticed recruiters don't return calls. I'm assuming because they have nothing available or they probably would have.

Can a van driver in Chicago make good $$

I kind of figured that, though Chicago might be a better area, their still may be too many vans, and no matter how hard you arer willing to drive, you can't drive if there are no loads. I might be better off going to straight truck I'm guessing. Or am I wrong?

Can a van driver in Chicago make good $$

I live in the Chicago area, new to expediting, have a CDL w/hazmat, I'm curious, could I also make good money running a van for a owner operator if I run hard since I can be off the log books in a van? Or am I better off in a straight truck? Thanks for sharing your advice and experience.
