Coming from the OTR world, don't be fooled by Werner's "paperless" logs. They can also be "creatively" used. There is no need for additional laws, just the enforcement of the existing ones. How many scalehouses do you pass daily that are closed?

Hubby started as a solo tractor/trailer driver and I rode along with him sometimes. I learned to drive and we did that for about 2 years before we changed to expediting. We have our moments in the truck (usually me getting irritated) but we have a joke that most people get mad and slam the door...

I had to laugh at.... "Even when I slow down the truck at weigh stations the curtain will rip open with my huband poking his head through to see what's the matter! Drives me crazy!" Mine used to do that all the time, with the same results from me!:7

I taught my hubby to crosstitch a few years ago, so we both do that. I also crochet blankets.

I forgot about the signature part. We have an "all in one" printer/scanner/copier that we use to do the same thing. Sure makes it nice to be able to do paperwork while relaxing rather than back and forth running to the truckstop.:)

Schneider has a decent training program. I have a few friends that drive for them and are happy. For me the drawback would be how large they are. If you live east of the Mississippi, you might take a look at Millis Transfer also.

We drive a tractor/trailer now and have no experience with the smaller trucks. Is it standard for a D Unit to come equipped with an engine brake?
